We're hiring a hands-on QA / Testing Lead to own quality across Vola's Android and iOS apps and backend systems, build our test automation, and build and lead the QA team.

What you'll do

Mobile apps (Android and iOS)

- Own functional, regression, UI and compatibility testing across devices and OS versions.
- Test key journeys end to end: onboarding, KYC, bank linking, cash advances, repayments, subscriptions and Credit Builder.
- Test edge cases (failed payments, retries, partial data), backward compatibility and force-update handling.
- Validate push notifications, deep links and third-party SDK flows (bank linking, KYC, payments).
- Verify security: biometric/PIN login, session timeout, root/jailbreak detection and data protection.
- Run App Store and Play Store release readiness and post-release smoke checks.

Backend and crons

- Test APIs and business rules: eligibility, underwriting, limits, fees and repayment schedules.
- Validate crons for collections, ACH,



notifications and reconciliation: timing, idempotency, retries and failures.
- Verify data integrity across transactions, ledgers and member accounts with SQL.

Automation

- Build the automation framework for the mobile apps (Robot Framework and Appium) and backend crons (Python), and move regression from manual to automated.
- Run automated suites in CI/CD pipelines.

Leadership and delivery

- Hire, mentor and plan the work of QA engineers each sprint.
- Define test strategy, test standards, bug triage and quality metrics.
- Own release sign-off and lead root-cause reviews for production issues.
- Run QA within Agile/Scrum in Jira and report on defects, coverage, escaped bugs and release health.

What you must have

- 5+ years in software testing, including 1–2 years leading testers.
- Fintech startup experience (lending, payments, neobanking or credit).
- Strong native Android and iOS testing, including real devices and release cycles.
- Backend testing of business logic, APIs and crons.
- Hands-on mobile test automation with Robot Framework and Appium.
- Python (Pytest or similar) for API and cron automation, and CI/CD integration.
- Robust SQL: joins, aggregations and validation queries.
- Experience building and managing a QA team.
- Agile/Scrum and Jira experience.
- Clear communication; comfortable saying "this is not ready to ship."

Good to have

- Espresso or XCUITest.
- US payments: ACH, debit card rails, settlement and returns.
- Lending, underwriting or credit reporting workflows.
- Security, compliance or API performance testing.
