Position Title: System Design Engineer – Electrolyser Systems

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced engineer to support the system-level design, integration, and scale-up of electrolyser systems. The role will focus on developing complete hydrogen production systems by integrating stacks, balance of plant, utilities, electrical systems, controls, and safety functions into a reliable and scalable product.

This position is ideal for candidates with robust system engineering experience in process plants, energy systems, industrial automation, or clean energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Architecture & Integration

Develop overall system architecture for electrolyser products from pilot scale to large industrial systems.

Define modular system concepts, equipment interfaces, and expansion philosophy.

Integrate stack systems with BoP components, utilities, and customer interfaces.

Support standardization and productization of system designs.

2. Process Design

Prepare and review

o Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)

o Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;)

o Mass and energy balances o Operating philosophies o Design systems for water handling, gas handling, cooling, venting, and auxiliary utilities.

Mechanical, Electrical & Controls Coordination

Coordinate with mechanical teams for piping, valves, manifolds, skids, and layout.

Support electrical integration including rectifiers, transformers, MCC/PCC, and power distribution.

Work with controls teams for PLC, SCADA, HMI, sensors, alarms, and interlocks.

3. Performance & Reliability





Perform system calculations for production capacity, efficiency, utility consumption, heat loads, and dynamic response.

Identify improvement opportunities for reliability, maintainability, and operational flexibility.

Participate in risk assessments such as FMEA, HAZOP, and safety reviews.

4. Documentation & Collaboration

Prepare engineering documents, datasheets, SOPs, manuals, and technical reports.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including stack design, R&D;, manufacturing, service, and project execution teams.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.

8-10 years of experience in system engineering, plant engineering, product integration, or industrial project execution.

Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering systems.

Experience with process design documents, equipment integration, and commissioning.

Ability to manage cross-functional technical interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in hydrogen systems, electrolysers, fuel cells, process plants, renewable energy, or industrial utilities.

Knowledge of automation systems and industrial instrumentation.

Familiarity with skid-mounted systems or modular plant design.

Exposure to safety standards and hazardous area requirements.

Startup mindset with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
