- Education: Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

- Experience: 3 to 8+ years of hands-on experience in structural steel or heavy metal fabrication shops.

- Technical Knowledge:

- Proficiency in reading structural drawings and welding symbols.

- Familiarity with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy properties.

A Structural Fabrication Supervisor manages day-to-day operations in a steel or metal fabrication workshop, ensuring that structural components (like beams, columns, trusses, and frames) are built safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

- Shop Floor Supervision: Allocate daily work tasks to fitters, welders, and fabricators; monitor workflow to meet production milestones.

- Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret structural engineering drawings, cut lists, weld symbols, and assembly layouts.

- Fit-Up & Welding Oversight: Inspect component fit-ups before welding, monitor distortion control, and verify compliance with welding procedures (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.).





- Quality Control (QC): Conduct dimensional checks, visual weld inspections, and coordinate with QA/QC inspectors for non-destructive testing (NDT).

- Safety & Compliance: Enforce shop safety rules, PPE usage, crane/lifting safety, and housekeeping (5S).

- Material & Consumable Management: Track raw structural steel, plates, and welding consumables; coordinate with stores to prevent shortages.

- Equipment & Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance and troubleshooting of cutting, bending, rolling, and lifting machinery.

- Team Management: Evaluate worker performance, conduct skill-building or safety toolbox talks, and maintain shop discipline.
