Role Description The Sr Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric development) role is a remote, contract opportunity for an experienced professional with 10+ years in data engineering. In this position, the individual will design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including data pipelines, data models, and integration workflows.

The role also involves collaborating with architects, analysts, and product teams to translate business requirements into technical designs, supporting advanced analytics, and contributing to best practices and standards for data engineering within the organization.

Senior Data Engineer, Microsoft Fabric

:

- Strong Data Engineering skills, including designing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and distributed data solutions.
- Proficiency in Data Modeling for analytical and operational systems, with experience in star/snowflake schemas and dimensional modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, tools, and frameworks, including performance tuning and error handling.

Responsibilities

- Build metadata-driven Fabric Data Factory pipelines that ingest JDE,



BPCS and SQL Server data through the on-premises data gateway into a Bronze, Silver and Gold medallion architecture.
- Develop Silver subject areas (item, production, inventory, labor, overhead and GL) in Spark notebooks and Delta tables, organized so the source system can change without rework.
- Build the Gold Product Cost layer with record-level traceability back to source transactions.
- Implement environments as code, CI/CD promotion across dev, test and prod, OneLake and semantic model security by plant and role, Purview lineage, and pipeline monitoring and alerting.
- Use Fresche’s AI development framework for profiling, mapping and build, following Fresche code review standards.
- Prepare the operational runbook and support a client-led full reload before go-live.

Requirements

- 8+ years in data engineering, including senior or lead roles on enterprise data platforms.
- At least 2+ years of hands-on Microsoft Fabric development, with at least two production implementations. We need real Fabric delivery experience, not Synapse or Databricks experience alone.
- Solid PySpark and SQL; deep working knowledge of Delta Lake, Lakehouse and medallion design.
- Fabric deployment pipelines and Git integration with Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Experience with row- and column-level security, Entra ID group-based access, and Purview.
- Experience ingesting ERP data at volume, including incremental loads and change detection.
