Role Description

This is a full-time remote SQL Server Database Administrator Remote role in EST hours (9am to 7 pm EST). The SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server databases that support Sphere Global’s AI logistics platforms and internal applications. Day-to-day activities include monitoring database performance, managing backups and restores, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery, and configuring replication as needed for mission-critical systems.

The role also involves designing and optimizing database schemas, diagnosing and resolving incidents, troubleshooting performance and connectivity issues, and applying patches and upgrades in coordination with development and infrastructure teams.



The administrator will collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, and operations stakeholders to implement best practices in security, capacity planning, and data integrity, while supporting deployments and production releases.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Database Administration and Databases, with hands-on experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments in production.
- Proficiency in Replication and high-availability configurations (e.g., Always On, clustering, log shipping) to support resilient, mission-critical systems.
- Experience in Database Design, including schema modeling, indexing strategies, and query optimization for performance and scalability.
- Effective Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing performance bottlenecks, resolving errors, and handling database-related incidents under time constraints.
- Working knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, security hardening, and role-based access control within SQL Server.
- Ability to collaborate with development and DevOps teams on release management, environment configuration, and automation of routine database tasks.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and scripting (e.g., T-SQL, PowerShell) to support proactive performance tuning and operational efficiency.
- Robust analytical thinking, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, or AI-driven platforms is an advantage but
