We are looking for an experienced Autodesk Inventor/ CAD Design Engineer specialist to take ownership of how the company's drafting and design team works in Inventor. You will build the automation (iLogic rules, forms and configurators), the Content Center libraries and the drafting standards that let the team produce pump station, skid and fabricated steel designs faster and more consistently. You will also design fabricated items yourself and check them with linear-static FEA. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who has already set up Inventor properly for a team, not just used it well.

You will report to the Drafting Manager and work alongside the drafting team, the existing Inventor design engineer and the Design Manager. The company is also preparing to introduce Autodesk Vault, and you will help shape how models, drawings and libraries are managed in it. Unlike a production drafting role, this position owns the templates, libraries and automation the drafters work from, and checks their output against the standards.

Position: Design Engineer - Autodesk Inventor Automation & Standards

Location: Remote (Work from Home, India)

Job Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)

Work Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Australian Eastern Time (AEST/AEDT), aligned with the Australian team

IST (Indian Standard Time) during AEST, approx. April October: 3:30 AM 12:30 PM

IST (Indian Standard Time) during AEDT, approx. October April: 2:30 AM 11:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

1. iLogic Automation and Configurator Development

- Develop iLogic rules, forms, and configurators to generate standard pump station, skid, and pipework assemblies, along with their associated drawings, using a limited set of inputs such as station size, pump model, pipe size, and cover type.

2. Content Center Library Management

- Build, customize, and administer Autodesk Inventor Content Center libraries, including custom families for standard pipes, flanges, fittings, valves, fasteners, structural sections, and purchased parts.
- Define and maintain the required component properties to ensure accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).

3. Drafting Standards and Documentation

- Develop, implement, and maintain Autodesk Inventor drafting standards, including templates, title blocks, styles, drawing sheets, BOM structures, part numbering, file naming conventions, and model-checking rules.

4. Team Training and Quality Assurance

- Train and support the drafting team in using established standards, libraries, and automation tools.
- Review drawings for compliance with company standards before release.

5. Fabricated Steel and Stainless-Steel Design

- Design fabricated steel and stainless-steel components, including skids, base frames, supports, brackets, platforms, and handrails, using Autodesk Inventor Frame Generator and Weldments.

6. Sheet-Metal Design

- Design sheet-metal components, including covers, lids, enclosures, guards, and switchboard housings.
- Ensure correct bend allowances, flat patterns, and fabrication details for manufacturing.

7. Structural Analysis and Engineering Calculations

- Perform linear-static stress, deflection, and frame analysis on frames, supports, lifting points, and covers using Inventor Stress Analysis, Frame Analysis, Inventor Nastran, or equivalent tools.
- Document load cases, assumptions, boundary conditions, material properties, and analysis results in calculation notes for review by the Australian engineering team.

8. Engineering Drawings and Manufacturing Documentation

- Generate general arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and cut lists directly from 3D models for in-house manufacturing and external fabrication partners.

9. Pipework and Valve Arrangement Design

- Model pipework and valve arrangements using Autodesk Inventor, including Frame Generator where appropriate for the application.

10. Autodesk Vault Implementation

- Assist with the planning, configuration, and setup of Autodesk Vault, including folder structures, file naming conventions, lifecycle states, release processes, and library management.

11. Continuous Improvement

- Review feedback from factory personnel, fabrication partners, and site teams, and incorporate improvements into templates, libraries, and configurators.

12. Technical Documentation and Knowledge Transfer

- Maintain explicit and comprehensive documentation of drafting standards, libraries, automation tools, and workflows.

- Ensure documentation explains existing systems, their functionality, and maintenance procedures to support knowledge transfer and reduce dependency on individual team members.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Education and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of design experience using Autodesk Inventor as the primary CAD tool.
- At least 3 years of experience designing fabricated steel, stainless-steel, or sheet-metal products, such as skids, frames, supports, and enclosures.

Autodesk Inventor and iLogic Expertise

- Proven experience developing iLogic rules, forms, and parameter-driven configurations to automate the generation of assemblies and engineering drawings.
- Ability to demonstrate and explain previous iLogic automation projects and their implementation.
- Experience creating and administering custom Content Center libraries, templates, styles, and drafting standards for a design team, rather than simply using existing resources.
- Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, including parametric part modelling, assembly design, Frame Generator, Sheet Metal, and engineering drawings.

Structural Analysis and Engineering Knowledge

- Hands-on experience performing linear-static finite element analysis (FEA) on fabricated structures using Inventor Stress Analysis, Frame Analysis, Inventor Nastran, or an equivalent engineering analysis tool.
- Sound understanding of structural load paths, bolted and welded connections, deflection limits, and material selection.
- Working knowledge of carbon steel, 304/316 stainless steel, and aluminium, including their relevant mechanical properties and engineering applications.

Communication and Availability:

- Excellent written and spoken English for effective daily communication with the Australian engineering team.
- Ability to work full-time during Australian business hours while based in India.

Desirable Requirements:-

- Working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to fabricated steelwork and engineering drawings, including AS 1100, AS 4100, AS 1657, and AS/NZS 1554, or equivalent international standards.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor API, VB.NET, or C# for developing custom tools, scripts, and add-ins.
- Experience configuring, implementing, or administering Autodesk Vault.
