- Job Purpose The Plant Manager will be responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the rice manufacturing plant. The role involves supervising production, ensuring quality standards, managing manpower, controlling operational costs, maintaining machinery, and ensuring timely production and dispatch of rice.

The Plant Manager must ensure optimum utilization of resources, maximum plant efficiency, minimum wastage, and achievement of production targets while maintaining safety and discipline across the factory.

- Key Responsibilities

A. Production & Plant Operations

- Manage day-to-day operations of the rice mill and processing plant.
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Ensure smooth operation of paddy cleaning, dehusking, milling, polishing, grading, sorting, and packing processes.
- Monitor production output, recovery percentage, broken rice percentage, and processing losses.
- Ensure optimum utilization of paddy, machinery, manpower, and other resources.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

B. Quality Control

- Ensure quality standards are maintained at every stage of rice processing.
- Monitor moisture levels, grain quality, whiteness, broken percentage, and foreign matter.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to maintain consistent product quality.
- Minimize material rejection, quality complaints, and processing wastage.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of paddy and finished goods.

C. Manpower Management

- Supervise and manage all plant employees, including supervisors, machine operators, technicians, helpers, and contract labour.
- Allocate duties and responsibilities to employees.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline, and productivity.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide employee training.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability for all shifts.

D. Machinery & Maintenance

- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Minimize machine downtime and production interruptions.
- Monitor maintenance of boilers, dryers, elevators, conveyors, motors, generators, compressors, and milling equipment, wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper maintenance records and machine operating logs.

E. Inventory & Material Management

- Monitor paddy inward, processing, finished rice, broken rice, bran, husk, and other by-products.
- Ensure proper stock reconciliation and material accounting.




- Coordinate with the purchase and stores departments for timely availability of spares and consumables.
- Control material losses, pilferage, and unnecessary consumption.
- Maintain accurate production and stock records.

F. Cost Control & Efficiency

- Control manufacturing costs, electricity consumption, fuel consumption, and manpower expenses.
- Improve milling recovery and reduce processing losses.
- Monitor plant efficiency and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Ensure effective utilization of all plant resources.

G. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping

- Ensure implementation of factory safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping across the plant.
- Ensure workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow applicable factory, labour, fire safety, pollution control, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and maintain necessary records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FSSAI and food safety requirements.

H. Reporting & Coordination

- Prepare daily production and operational reports for management.
- Report production output, recovery, wastage, downtime, manpower, and stock details.
- Coordinate with purchase, quality, stores, accounts, sales, and dispatch departments.
- Conduct regular operational review meetings with supervisors.
- Report major breakdowns, operational issues, and deviations to management.

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The Plant Manager will be evaluated based on the following performance parameters:

- Achievement of daily and monthly production targets.
- Paddy-to-rice milling recovery percentage.
- Control over broken rice percentage and processing wastage.
- Reduction in machine breakdowns and downtime.
- Control of electricity and fuel consumption per MT of production.
- Finished product quality and customer complaints.
- Inventory accuracy and stock reconciliation.
- Manpower productivity and labour discipline.
- Compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
- Overall plant profitability and operational efficiency.

4. Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Food Technology, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in rice milling, agro-processing, or food manufacturing industries.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in a plant management or senior production management role.
- Strong knowledge of rice milling operations, paddy processing, machinery,



and production management.
- Knowledge of rice recovery, quality parameters, and by-product management.
- Experience in manpower management, cost control, and factory administration.

5. Required Skills & Competencies

6. Authority & Decision-Making The Plant Manager will have authority to:
- Allocate manpower and shift duties.
- Plan and execute daily production schedules.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities.
- Monitor and control plant-level operational expenses within approved budgets.
- Implement operational improvements.
- Recommend hiring, training, disciplinary action, and performance evaluation of plant employees.
- Escalate major operational and financial decisions to management for approval.

7. Expected Outcomes The Plant Manager is expected to ensure:
- Smooth and uninterrupted factory operations.
- Maximum milling recovery and minimum wastage.
- Consistent quality of finished rice.
- Optimum utilization of manpower and machinery.
- Effective cost control and improved plant profitability.
- Strong discipline, safety, and accountability.
- Timely achievement of production and dispatch targets.

Overall Responsibility: The Plant Manager shall be fully responsible for the overall operational performance, production efficiency, quality, manpower, maintenance, safety, and cost management of the DNSS Agro Industries Pvt. Ltd. rice processing plant.
