Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Team Lead with 7–8 years of experience managing Canadian and US payroll operations. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of payroll compliance, statutory deductions, payroll systems, client management, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage end-to-end Canadian and US payroll processing for multiple clients.
- Supervise payroll team members, allocate tasks, and ensure timely payroll completion.
- Review payroll registers, gross-to-net calculations, deductions, and payroll variances.
- Ensure compliance with CRA, IRS, federal, provincial, and state payroll regulations.
- Manage payroll tax remittances, year-end reporting, T4s, ROEs, W-2s, and other statutory filings.
- Handle employee onboarding, terminations, vacation pay, overtime, bonuses, and retroactive adjustments.
- Review payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll funding reports.
- Resolve complex payroll discrepancies and client queries.
- Develop and maintain payroll SOPs, internal controls, and quality assurance procedures.
- Train, mentor, and monitor payroll team members.





Required Qualifications & Skills
- 7–8 years of hands-on experience in Canadian and US payroll processing.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, CPP, EI, income tax, vacation pay, and statutory holidays.
- Good knowledge of US payroll regulations, federal and state taxes, FICA, FUTA, and payroll reporting.
- Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Ceridian Dayforce, Wagepoint, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, or similar platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, payroll reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Experience managing multiple clients and payroll deadlines.
- Robust leadership, problem-solving, communication, and client management skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle complex payroll scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications
- PCP/PLP certification (Canada) or FPC/CPP certification (US) would be an advantage.
- Previous experience in an accounting firm or outsourced payroll services environment.
- Experience managing and reviewing payroll for both Canadian and US clients.
