Role Description The Health Writing Program Mentor is a part-time, remote role supporting learners in HealthOdysseyHub’s Medical Writing & Editing Program. In this role, you will guide participants through health writing projects, provide structured feedback on assignments, and mentor them on best practices for evidence-based communication. You will help learners refine topic selection, develop outlines, and strengthen narrative flow for articles, blog posts, and longer-format manuscripts.

The role includes reviewing drafts for clarity, accuracy, and engagement, facilitating virtual check-ins or small group sessions, and collaborating with the program team to improve learning materials and resources.



You will also contribute to quality standards for health content and model ethical, inclusive, and patient-centered communication throughout the mentorship process.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Coaching and Book Coaching skills to support learners in planning, structuring, and completing health writing projects.
- Candidates should possess robust Writing and Creative Writing skills to help mentees craft clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate health narratives.
- Candidates should possess solid Research skills to guide evidence-based content development, source evaluation, and accurate interpretation of health information.
- Experience in health, medical, or science communication, including editing or teaching, is highly beneficial.
- Ability to give constructive, empathetic feedback and adapt mentoring styles to diverse learner backgrounds and skill levels.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with careful attention to tone, accessibility, and inclusivity.
- Comfort with remote collaboration tools, online learning platforms, and video conferencing for mentoring sessions.
- Relevant academic or professional background in health, life sciences, public health, journalism, or communications is a plus.
