About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Cloud and Data Platforms to lead the engineering and operations of Chubb's enterprise cloud and data platforms within the Infrastructure division. This role requires both an engineering mindset (build, automate, standardise) and an operations mindset (run, stabilise, recover, improve), applying AI across both to drive productivity and efficiency, owning reliable 24/7 production services, and partnering with CIOs, application owners, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Service ownership: Own production operations, SLAs/SLOs, resilience, security, compliance, capacity, backup, recovery, and lifecycle management for cloud and data platforms.
- 24/7 leadership and ITSM: Lead the global follow-the-sun team, on-call model, and runbooks; direct major incidents and own Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management in ServiceNow.
- Cloud engineering: Engineer and operate secure landing zones and shared services, including Kubernetes/AKS, networking, identity, observability, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Automation and DevSecOps: Deliver reusable, secure platform components using Terraform, Jenkins, CI/CD and ServiceNow; drive self-service and toil reduction.
- AI-driven engineering and operations: Apply AI and AIOps to improve productivity and efficiency, including AI-assisted coding and IaC. Use intelligent alerting and event correlation,

automated triage and root-cause analysis for operational efficiency.
- Data and AI platform operations: Ensure reliable pipelines, ETL/ELT, orchestration, data quality, scheduling, and production readiness for data, analytics, and AI workloads.
- FinOps and modernisation: Govern consumption, optimisation, and vendors; lead platform migrations and legacy retirement; provide decision-ready reporting on health, cost, risk, and readiness.
- Vendor management: Own relationships with cloud, data, and technology vendors and service providers; lead contract, licensing, and support negotiations; govern vendor performance, service levels, and risk; and maintain exit and consolidation strategies for non-strategic platforms.
- Budget management: Own the cloud and data platform budget, including annual planning, forecasting, and spend tracking by region and portfolio; approve and reconcile invoices; drive cost transparency and accountability with CIOs and application owners; and deliver savings and efficiency targets.
- People and stakeholder leadership: Lead and grow a distributed engineering and support team; represent the function with senior executives and partner with architecture, security, and risk teams.

Platform Scope

- Cloud: Azure (primary), with AWS and GCP; Kubernetes/AKS, landing zones, networking, identity, security, observability, backup, and DR.
- Data: Snowflake, Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, Informatica (IDMC/IICS, PowerCenter, MDM, IDQ), Airflow/Astronomer, ADF, Dataiku, Azure SQL/SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Redshift, Kafka, Quantexa, and approved Azure, Databricks, and Google AI services.

Key Requirements and Qualifications

- Experience: 15–20 years in cloud operations, platform engineering, infrastructure, or data engineering, with a proven track record of both building and running platforms in a 24/7 production environment.
- Leadership: Proven success managing distributed teams, on-call operations, major incidents, and executive communications.
- Technical depth: Deep Azure expertise with working knowledge of AWS and GCP; strong knowledge of Kubernetes, networking, identity, security, IaC, CI/CD, observability, and enterprise data technologies; practical experience applying AI/AIOps and GenAI tools to engineering and operations.
- Governance: Hands-on ITIL/ITSM, ServiceNow, SRE, FinOps, and vendor management in a regulated environment (financial services or insurance preferred).

- Critical incidents are resolved rapidly, with explicit communications, disciplined RCAs, and verified preventative actions.
- AI, automation, observability, self-service patterns, and standardised operations measurably improve productivity and reduce toil, risk, and incident recurrence.
- Platform spend, risks, ownership, service health, and modernisation progress are transparent and decision-ready for leadership.
