Role
Your role is to run Installation, Commissioning & Handover department site engineers, commissioning engineers and the installation partners who work under them from the day material is dispatched to the day the client signs the handover certificate. You draft the mobilisation plan for every site before dispatch, you get the installation certificate signed on the schedule date, you take the plant to its performance guarantee, and you train the clients operators until they run it for seven days without us. You are accountable for the safety, quality and data record of every Indra site.
What success looks like
You will be measured on a published scorecard. In outline:
•
First six months the site machine is installed. An approved mobilisation plan before every dispatch. Every new installation certified by the client on its schedule date from month four. Plant data logged from the first wet run on every site. Client snags closed within one working day. Two commissioning engineers hired and in seat.
•
Twelve months plants are handed over, not left “commissioned”. Ten or more handovers in the year, each with the performance guarantee met within three weeks of first wet run, operators trained within seven days and a seven-day zero-error client run. Zero internal rework after installation and zero safety incidents. A written installation and commissioning method in use on every site, and at least two qualified installation partners in every region we work in.
Responsibilities
1. Mobilise before dispatch. For every project, draft the installation & commissioning mobilisation plan — gate pass, work order, WC/TPL insurance, CLMS/PF/ESIC, e-way bill, customs, unloading and crane — for the Project Manager’s approval. Nothing leaves the factory without it.
1. Receive and protect the material. Check every dispatch at Gate-In against the dispatch list, including the spares kit, and own the material at site — storage, cover, security — until it is installed.
1. Install to the date.
Run installation through your site engineers and partner crews to the project schedule, with a daily site report and photos, and get the installation certificate signed by the client on or before the schedule date. An installation with work pending is not installed.
1. Commission to the guarantee. Log flow, power, pH/ORP and outlet quality from the first wet run; take the plant to its performance guarantee within three weeks; route every equipment or design finding back to QC and Design & Engineering in writing.
1. Train and hand over. Train the client’s operators within seven days of commissioning — operation, CIP, consumables, safety, logbook — then let them run the plant for seven days with zero Indra interventions before the client signs the handover certificate.
1. Close snags in a day. Every client snag after installation closed within one working day, with the material and people already at site.
1. Lead the site team and build the partner bench. Four site engineers and two commissioning engineers at full strength; review each person’s scorecard monthly. Qualify at least two installation partners per region with agreed scope and rates; partner payment is released only on the site engineer’s sign-off.
1. Keep every site secure. Zero lost-time injuries, electrical shocks or fires; a safety induction on every site before work starts. What we look for (attitude first)
We hire for attitude, not just skill. Skills can be taught; attitude cannot. The right candidate demonstrates:
•
Self-initiative — has written an installation checklist, a mobilisation pack or a commissioning protocol somewhere without being asked to
•
A hardworking approach — goes to the worst site personally and leaves with a dated punch list closed
•
A self-starting mindset — runs several sites at once from daily data and acts before a date slips, without being chased
•
Critical and analytical thinking — logs before tuning; separates a process limit from an equipment fault on evidence, not opinion
And, specific to this role: would rather refuse a signature than sign off an installation that is not done.
Desired candidate profile
•
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
•
8–12 years in installation and commissioning of water / wastewater plants, process-plant utilities or packaged-equipment OEMs
•
Installed and commissioned 15 or more ETP / STP / ZLD or process units, with performance-guarantee tests owned personally
•
Has run three or more live sites at once through site engineers and subcontract crews
•
Hands-on at site with pumps, blowers, panels, PLC / HMI, instruments and piping; reads P&IDs;, layouts and SLDs
•
Comfortable with about 40% site travel across India and occasional export sites
Competencies required
•
Mechanical and electrical installation of skid-mounted and site-built treatment plants, including civil interfaces
•
Commissioning and PG testing of physico-chemical, biological and membrane systems; electrochemical treatment is a plus
•
Site compliance: CLMS / PF / ESIC, WC / TPL insurance, gate passes, permits to work, safety induction
•
Subcontractor management: scope, rates, quality checks, payment on sign-off
•
Operator training, O&M; manuals and handover documentation under ISO
Our commitment to you. The site runs through you: the founders will not instruct your site engineers or partner crews directly — every instruction comes to you. And nothing is dispatched to a site without an approved mobilisation plan, even when a client is pressing for material.
•
Location: Thane, Mumbai (30%) and Bhiwandi factory (30%); client sites across India and abroad (40%)
