Events Manager - India Mumbai | New role | Regional and global exposure
Who are we:
Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the New Zealand Government agency that helps New Zealand businesses grow internationally.
The India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement has entered into force, opening a new chapter of partnership between our two countries. As a result, the number and scale of our events in India have grown, so we've created this new role. You'll have a real chance to shape it with the regional marketing and communications team.
You'll be based in our Mumbai office. You'll be part of our Singapore-based regional Marketing, Communications and Solutions team, which covers nine markets and nine offices across Asia. You'll work closely with our India team in Mumbai and Delhi.
What you'll be doing:
Our events are about commercial growth for exporters, delivered through a world class experience.
You will
- Deliver commercial trade missions, pavilions, buyer meetings, VIP roundtables and programmes across India, from plan to post-event review
- Own delivery plans, coordinating stakeholders, suppliers, resources and communications so everyone knows what needs to happen and when.
- Manage project budgets, timelines and risks, and make sure everyone knows who is responsible for what.
- Turn learnings into improvements so every event delivers more impact for exporters
- Build a trusted network of agencies, fabricators and venues that deliver to a global standard
- Support other Asia offices with events when needed
- Join NZTE's global events best practice team, sharing ideas across our international network
What you'll need to be successful:
- An events expert who goes beyond delivery. You create, innovate and keep raising the bar.
- A clear, regular communicator. Your manager is in Singapore, so you share updates, flag risks early and own the outcomes.
- An optimist. Your first response is "how might we?", not "that's too hard".
- Calm under pressure. Tight deadlines and last-minute changes are where you thrive.
You'll also bring:
- Proven experience delivering trade shows, missions or large events in India
- Strong project management and commercial judgement, including supplier selection, budget management and value-for-money decisions
- A strong network of event suppliers in India
- A good understanding of Indian business culture, protocol and VIP engagement
- Excellent English and confidence with digital and AI tools
- Bonus points for trade, government or diplomatic experience
Events will take you beyond the usual working day, so you’ll be comfortable with travel and out-of-hours work. In return, we work flexibly as a global organisation, recognising that flexibility goes both ways.
We are an ambitious team who expect greatness of ourselves. Our environment encourages experimentation and constant learning, having brave conversations, intellectual challenge and absolute honesty.
We keep promises and honour commitments and we celebrate the mana (strength and dignity) of each other as being equal to or greater than our own.
Your enthusiastic, 'can-do' attitude, proactive nature, creative problem-solving skills and ability to work in virtual teams across multiple sectors will be highly valued and integral to your success.
To find out more, see the Position Description here.
Please note, this is a 'locally engaged' position so you must have the right to work in India to apply for this role.
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential for this role.
Why you'll love working here:
- A new role you can shape and make your own
- A front-row seat as the India–New Zealand partnership grows
- Regional and global exposure, with room to grow into recent markets and sectors
- A people-first culture built on Ambition, Adventure, Honesty, Trust and Manaaki
What's next:
Send us your CV and a short cover note about an India event you're proud of and what it achieved. Please include your current CTC, expected CTC and notice period.
Applications close Friday 20 November at 11:59pm IST.
