Role & responsibilities

Site execution

- Supervise erection, installation, testing and commissioning of 220/132/110/66/33/11 kV substations and transmission or distribution lines.

- Supervise installation of power and distribution transformers, switchyard equipment, HT/LT panels, underground cables, poles and meters.

- Plan daily and weekly work, and manage site manpower, contractors and subcontractors to meet project schedules.

Quality, safety and compliance

- Inspect works for quality and compliance with drawings, specifications and client (PGCIL / DISCOM) standards.

- Implement the QA/QC plan, including inspection and test plans, checklists and non-conformance reports.

- Enforce HSE practices, permit-to-work, toolbox talks and incident reporting.

- Ensure compliance with CEA regulations, Indian Electricity Rules, IS standards and statutory approvals.

Planning and cost control

- Prepare and track construction schedules, and report delays with recovery plans.

- Monitor material requirements, raise indents on time, and manage site inventory and reconciliation.

- Track actual cost against budget and help control overruns.

Billing and commercial

- Prepare and verify measurement sheets, running bills, extra-item claims and variation orders as per the BOQ and contract terms.

- Evaluate and monitor subcontractor performance and measurements.

Technical and documentation

- Review GFC drawings, flag clashes or site constraints, and raise RFIs.





- Check vendor and OEM materials against approved datasheets on receipt.

- Support testing and pre-commissioning, and prepare as-built drawings, test reports, commissioning certificates and handover documents.

- Maintain progress reports and site records.

Coordination and team management

- Coordinate with clients, consultants, PMC, vendors, the design team and head office on inspections, approvals and interfaces.

- Mentor junior engineers and supervisors.

- Report progress, risks and issues to the Project Manager.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience

- Experience in EHV/HV substation and transmission line construction, in a lead or managerial site role

- Experience on PGCIL, State Transco or DISCOM projects (for example RDSS, DDUGJY or TL/substation packages), preferably with an EPC contractor

Technical skills

- Substation and transmission line erection, testing and commissioning

- Reading electrical drawings, SLDs and layouts

- Transformer, switchyard, HT/LT panel and cable installation

- BOQ-based measurement and RA billing

- MS Office, with MS Project or Primavera and AutoCAD for scheduling and drawing review (desirable)

Skilled skills

- Site and team management, and contractor coordination

- Client and consultant handling

- Reporting, documentation and problem-solving under deadlines

- Working knowledge of safety and quality systems

Other

- Willing to relocate to outstation and remote project sites

- Good command of Hindi and English (local language is an advantage)
