We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to drive the electrical architecture, schematic creation, and component selection for custom test benches and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems. In this role, you will design the wiring diagrams, safety interlocks, and interface systems used to validate Electronic Control Units (ECUs) such as VCUs, BMS, BCM, Motor Inverters, etc...
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Schematic & Wiring Design:
- Design detailed electrical schematics, loop diagrams, control panel layouts, and wiring harnesses using tools like EPLAN Electric P8, AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken E3.series, or MS Visio.
- Develop interface Breakout Boxes (BOBs) and junction boxes for easy ECU signal tapping and measurement.
- Ensure electrical drawings adhere to global standards (IEC, ISO, or IEEE) and standard automotive drafting conventions.
Component Sourcing & Selection:
- Calculate, select, and specify electromechanical components based on voltage, current ratings, and thermal loads (e.g., relays, contactors, circuit breakers, fuses, terminal blocks, power supplies).
- Select suitable automotive-grade and industrial connectors, harnesses, cables, and pinouts (TE Connectivity, Molex, Amphenol).
- Specify signal conditioning modules and Data Acquisition (DAQ) hardware interfaces.
Test Bench Build & Integration Support:
- Collaborate with technician teams to oversee panel assembly, harness fabrication, and bench wiring.
- Perform continuity tests, insulation checks, and electrical commissioning of assembled test rigs prior to deployment.
- Define electrical safety interlocks and emergency stop (E-stop) circuits for high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) validation rigs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with HIL test engineers, software validation teams, and mechanical enclosure designers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Maintain up-to-date Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering change notices (ECN), and design documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in EEE, ECE, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation.
- Core Technical Expertise:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical schematic design using EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong knowledge of electrical component selection (relays, contactors, MCBs, DC-DC converters, terminal blocks).
- Familiarity with ECU electrical interfaces (LV power supplies, analog/digital I/O, CAN/LIN bus physical layers).
- Solid understanding of electrical safety guidelines, grounding practices, and noise isolation techniques.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Basic understanding of EV powertrain control units (BMS, VCU, Inverter, OBC).
- Experience with Fault Insertion Units (FIU) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platforms (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Opal-RT, ETAS).
- Hands-on exposure to high-voltage (HV) safety standards and isolation testing for EV test rigs.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge EV validation technologies.
- Collaborative, engineering-focused work environment.
- Market-competitive salary and performance incentives.
