Primary Skills Required / Must Have

- Kubernetes administration on on-prem / bare-metal clusters (kubeadm, RKE2/Rancher, or OpenShift)
- Cluster installation, upgrades, node lifecycle, etcd backup & restore
- Strong Kubernetes troubleshooting: pod scheduling, CrashLoopBackOff, OOMKilled, resource quotas/limits
- Debugging with kubectl, events, logs, describe, exec, and node-level diagnostics
- Kubernetes networking: CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium, Flannel), Services, Ingress controllers
- CoreDNS, NetworkPolicies, MetalLB / bare-metal load balancing
- Linux administration (RHEL/Rocky/Ubuntu): systemd, processes, kernel tuning, patching, hardening
- Performance troubleshooting (top, vmstat, iostat, sar, journalctl)
- Strong Linux networking: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VLANs, iptables/nftables, firewalls
- Network troubleshooting with tcpdump, ss, ip, dig, traceroute, curl
- Load balancers and reverse proxies (HAProxy, NGINX, Keepalived)
- PostgreSQL operations: setup, backup/restore, streaming replication, HA and failover
- Running PostgreSQL on Kubernetes (CloudNativePG, Zalando, Crunchy, or Patroni); performance tuning
- Apache Cassandra operations: cluster setup, scaling nodes, repairs, compaction, nodetool
- Backup/restore and running Cassandra on Kubernetes (K8ssandra / Cass Operator)
- Storage for stateful workloads: PV/PVC, StorageClasses, CSI drivers
- On-prem storage such as Ceph/Rook, Longhorn, NFS, or local persistent volumes
- Infrastructure sizing and capacity planning for Kubernetes, PostgreSQL and Cassandra clusters (CPU, memory, storage, IOPS, network)
- Excellent communication skills: working directly with customers to gather requirements, run sizing discussions, and present recommendations
- Explicit technical documentation and status reporting




- Docker / containerd, Helm charts, private container registries (Harbor)
- Bash/Shell scripting; IaC tools like Ansible and Terraform
- CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins, GitLab CI (self-hosted), GitHub Actions

Brief : We are looking for a DevOps Engineer for the OpenVault project, which is hosted on an on-premise Kubernetes environment backed by PostgreSQL and Apache Cassandra. The engineer will own the setup, stability and day-to-day operations of the platform, act as the first line of deep troubleshooting for Kubernetes and Linux networking issues, and work directly with customers to understand their requirements and size the infrastructure correctly. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role is customer-facing.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, upgrade and maintain on-prem Kubernetes clusters hosting the OpenVault platform.

Troubleshoot and resolve Kubernetes issues across workloads, networking (CNI, Ingress, DNS), storage and node health.

Diagnose and fix Linux and network-level problems including routing, firewall, DNS, load balancer and connectivity issues.

Deploy, operate and tune PostgreSQL and Cassandra clusters, including backups, restores, replication, scaling and HA.

Engage with customers to gather technical requirements and translate them into infrastructure sizing (compute, memory, storage, network).

Prepare sizing documents, deployment architecture and runbooks, and present recommendations to customer stakeholders.

Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible/Terraform, Helm and shell scripting.

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.

Set up monitoring, alerting and logging, and drive incident response, root-cause analysis and preventive fixes.

Apply security best practices: OS hardening, patching, RBAC, TLS and secrets management.
