Job Summary
We are seeking a Design Project Manager with a strong understanding of UX/UI design processes and software development concepts. The ideal candidate will play a dual role: managing the end-to-end delivery of design projects, and acting as the liaison between business stakeholders, the design team, and the development team. This role requires strong organizational skills, a good grasp of design workflows, and the leadership to drive Agile ceremonies, timelines, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Design Project Management
- Plan, schedule, and manage design projects from kickoff to handoff, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into clear design briefs, scope documents, and deliverables.
- Work closely with UX/UI designers, researchers, developers, and QA to ensure design intent is accurately implemented.
- Create and maintain project plans, roadmaps, timelines, resource allocation sheets, and risk registers.
- Manage design review cycles, feedback consolidation, and stakeholder approvals for wireframes, prototypes, and final designs.
- Coordinate design handoff to development, including design specs, assets, and design system documentation.
- Track design effort, manage capacity across designers, and handle change requests and scope adjustments.
Agile / Scrum Delivery
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies for design and product teams, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Identify and remove impediments to the design and development teams' progress.
- Work with Product Owners to maintain a well-defined and prioritized backlog of design and product work.
- Define acceptance criteria for design deliverables and support usability testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Track and report on project and Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, on-time delivery, design turnaround time) to drive continuous improvement.
- Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile and design-delivery best practices.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders, designers, and engineers.
- Provide regular status updates, risk reports, and escalations to leadership and clients.
- Ensure business needs align with user experience goals and technical feasibility.
- Support developers by providing clarity on user flows, design decisions, and business logic.
- Contribute to design operations: process improvement, templates, and design system adoption.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of experience in project management, with at least 2 years managing design / UX / digital product projects.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PSM, or PMP certification is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Asana, or similar project management tools.
- Working familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma (reviewing files, comments, handoff workflows).
- Understanding of the UX design lifecycle: research, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and design systems.
- Exposure to development concepts such as APIs, front-end/back-end frameworks, and system integrations.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Solid communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and facilitate collaboration between design, business, and technology groups.
