ABOUT THE TEAM:

You will join the team building Chemstack AI, an agentic synthesis R&D; platform built on our own Chemistry World Model that reasons from mechanism and first principles, not just precedent. It designs synthesis routes, researches literature and patents in depth, predicts reaction conditions, models reactions with quantum chemistry and diagnoses why experiments fail. The team brings together PhD chemists and specialists in AI, data and product.

Our chemists work on problems from different companies, alongside GTM managers who handle the business side, and their judgment shapes how Chemstack AI thinks for every chemist who uses it. We value ownership, deep curiosity and moving rapid while getting the details right.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Forward Deployed Chemist, you will be the chemist our customers turn to, working at the intersection of AI and chemistry: you combine your knowledge with AI to solve the chemistry problems that decide a project, and bring its impact into their labs.

You will work between the customer’s lab and our product, side by side with their chemists, and bring back what Chemstack AI needs to learn. Success looks like customer chemists who reach for Chemstack AI first.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Customer R&D; projects: Work closely with customer chemists on the molecules that matter most to them,



and understand each project’s goals and constraints.
- Adoption: Ensure each team talks chemistry with Chemstack AI the right way, so that it does its job at the right depth.
- Synthesis problem solving: With Chemstack AI, solve the chemistry problems that come up in real projects, such as an impurity that will not purge, a step with poor selectivity, a published procedure that will not reproduce, a hazardous reagent that needs replacing or a route that needs a new starting material.
- Rollout: When an account converts, lead the rollout across the wider team so adoption grows beyond the first users.
- Product feedback: Be the voice of customer chemists in our product team, turning what you learn across projects and companies into what Chemstack AI does next.
- Enablement: Build the worked examples new users learn from, and test new features on real chemistry first.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Experience: PhD or Post Doc. in synthetic organic chemistry, with 3 to 6 years in process R&D;, medicinal chemistry, or a contract research, development or manufacturing organisation (CRO or CDMO).

Technical Expertise:

- Proficiency in route design, reaction optimisation and scale-up, and in working with the literature, patents and analytical data such as NMR, HPLC and LC-MS.
- Experience solving the problems that shape the synthesis success of a molecule: impurity control, yield and selectivity, isomers and stereochemistry, and process safety.
- Strong command of key starting material (KSM) selection, green chemistry, regulatory guidelines such as ICH, and IP management, including freedom to operate (FTO) analysis.
- Demonstrated track record of taking routes from the bench towards scale, or of solving synthesis problems.
- Domain Alignment: Strong interest in how AI is changing chemistry, and in using it to solve chemistry problems.
- Mindset: Thinks from first principles, explains chemistry clearly and earns trust at every level, has an instinct for what the product should do next, and is comfortable travelling to customer sites for kick offs, lab days and rollouts.
