AI Engineer - Intern (Autonomous Driving) — Tempero
About Kedge and Tempero
Kedge Systems Private Limited (https://kedge360.com/) is hiring 2–3 software developer interns for 5–6 months, starting December 2026 or January 2027, to build AI-driven Python tools for the Tempero project.
Kedge is a Chennai-based software consulting company, in business since 2008, with a team of 30 across Chennai and Bangalore working for European clients.
Tempero (https://tempero.tech/) works on scenario-based validation for simulation testing of autonomous driving systems: scenario intelligence, causal analysis of scenarios, and software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing with simulators such as CarMaker, DYNA4 and esmini.
Internship at a glance
Role: AI Engineer - Intern
Openings: 2–3
Duration: 5–6 months, full-time
Start: December 2026 or January 2027
Location: In office at Kedge, SSPDL Alpha City, Navalur, Chennai
Project: Tempero (https://tempero.tech/)
What you'll work on
- You'll write production-quality Python that applies AI to autonomous-driving test scenarios, working alongside Tempero's engineers in Chennai.
- Build Python modules and services for Tempero's scenario-analysis and validation workflows
- Integrate large language models (LLMs) through APIs: prompt design, structured outputs, tool calling and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Develop data pipelines that parse, clean and analyse scenario files, simulation logs and test results
- Prototype machine-learning and statistical methods, including causal analysis of scenario outcomes
- Help connect Tempero modules to simulators such as esmini, CarMaker and DYNA4 in SIL setups
- Evaluate what you build: create small benchmark sets,
measure accuracy and report findings
- Write tests with pytest, document your code and take part in code reviews on Git
- Demo your progress to the team at regular sprint reviews
What we're looking for
- Strong Python fundamentals and the ability to learn fast matter more than prior AI experience.
- Final-year student or 2025/2026 graduate in BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MCA or MSc (Computer Science, IT, ECE, EEE, Mechatronics, Automobile, Data Science or a related field)
- Available full-time and on-site in Chennai for at least 5 months; final-semester students need college approval for a full-time internship
- Solid Python: functions, classes, modules, virtual environments, error handling, and reading and writing JSON, XML and CSV
- Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design
- Hands-on use of at least one of NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn or PyTorch
- Basic familiarity with LLMs: you have called an LLM API or built a small project with one
- Comfortable with Git and the Linux command line
- Clear written and spoken English
- At least one project (GitHub, academic or personal) you can walk us through in detail
Nice to have
- None of these are required; each one helps you ramp up faster on Tempero.
- Built something with an LLM framework or SDK (for example LangChain, LlamaIndex or a model provider's SDK), embeddings or a vector database
- Experience exposing Python code as a web API with FastAPI or Flask, and packaging it with Docker
- Interest in automotive, ADAS or autonomous driving; exposure to OpenSCENARIO, OpenDRIVE, esmini, CARLA or MATLAB/Simulink
- Grounding in statistics, probability or causal inference (for example DoWhy)
- Hackathon, Kaggle or open-source contributions
