Assistant Manager - Labour Compliance

We are looking for a statutory compliance professional who can independently interpret labour legislation, translate it into actionable obligations, and build the systems to meet them. You will own end-to-end labour law compliance across our Head Office (Gurugram) and active construction sites in Rajasthan, including all contract labour and principal employer obligations. The role involves periodic site visits.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Ownership

- Conduct labour law audits across Head Office and construction sites; identify gaps and drive time-bound remediation
- Own all statutory filings, returns, registers, and records under applicable central and state labour legislation including under the 4 labour codes and their rules as notified
- Track regulatory updates across Central and State labour legislation; independently assess their operational impact; implement changes proactively including monitoring and implementing state-level rules under the Labour Codes as they are notified by Haryana and Rajasthan
- Advise management on compliance positions and risks, backed by the underlying law and standard practice

Contract Labour & Contractor Management

- Verify contractor licences, registrations under CLRA and OSH Code, and statutory standing prior to engagement; maintain a live contractor compliance tracker
- Audit contractor records wage registers, muster rolls, EPF/ESIC challans, BOCW registrations — on a periodic basis
- Cross-verify worker payments against notified minimum wages as per Code on Wages and applicable state rules; escalate contractor defaults
- Manage principal employer liability exposure; coordinate with legal on contractual protections
- Serve as the primary compliance interface for contractors

Government Interface & Liaison

- Liaise proactively with the Labour Department, BOCW Welfare Boards, and EPF/ESIC field offices in Haryana and Rajasthan
- Build and maintain working relationships with inspectors, enforcement officers,



and departmental officials to support proactive compliance
- Own inspection preparedness across all locations at all times
- Handle show-cause notices, demands, and departmental proceedings; draft responses and coordinate with legal

Payroll Compliance & Reporting

- Run and audit end-to-end payroll compliance for direct employees and contract labour; verify that statutory deductions are correctly computed, deposited, and reconciled with finance
- Audit contractor wage disbursements against notified minimum wages
- Build and maintain a live compliance MIS, including obligations, due dates, filing status, contractor health, open items
- Report compliance status to leadership with specificity: exposure, cost, and recommended action

Candidate Profile

Required

- 5–7 years in labour law compliance, with substantial experience in real estate, construction, EPC, or infrastructure
- Working knowledge of the four Labour Codes and their central rules; ability to read and apply the codes and the central and state rules thereunder directly
- Direct experience with contract labour compliance and principal employer liability as a primary responsibility
- Hands-on experience handling labour law audits, government notices, and departmental proceedings
- Demonstrated ability to run and audit payroll compliance – statutory computation, deposit verification, and reconciliation – for both direct employees and contract labour
- Working knowledge of BOCW, applicable state labour rules, and the laws subsumed by the Codes
- Willingness to undertake periodic site visits as part of the role

Preferred

- Familiarity with the transition compliance landscape –which provisions of the old Acts remain operationally relevant and how the new Codes and rules interact, pending state notifications
- Multi-state compliance exposure (Haryana and Rajasthan preferred); readiness to track and implement the new state rules under the Codes
- Demonstrated experience in building or structuring a compliance function
- LLB or any graduate; solid demonstrated experience will take precedence over qualifications
