A Plumbing Site Supervisor bridges the gap between project management and hands-on installation. They ensure that plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, gas piping, and fixtures) are installed correctly, safely, on schedule, and in strict compliance with local building codes.
Job Summary
The Plumbing Site Supervisor oversees all plumbing operations on commercial, residential, or industrial construction sites. They manage a team of plumbers and subcontractors, coordinate with other trade supervisors, inspect work for quality and code compliance, and ensure a safe working environment.
Core Responsibilities1. In office Supervision & Team Management
- Direct Daily Operations: Assign daily tasks to journeyman plumbers, apprentices, and laborers based on project timelines.
- Subcontractor Oversight: Monitor the work of third-party plumbing contractors to ensure they meet contractual obligations and quality standards.
- Training & Mentorship: Guide apprentices and less experienced crew members on proper installation techniques and safety protocols.
2. Project Coordination & Blueprint Reading
- Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and plumbing schematics (isometrics).
- Material Logistics: Track inventory, estimate required materials, and coordinate deliveries to avoid project delays.
- Cross-Trade Collaboration: Coordinate with Electrical, HVAC, and General Contracting supervisors to prevent layout conflicts (clashes) in the field.
3. Quality Control & Code Compliance
- Inspections: Conduct regular walkthroughs to inspect pipe layouts, joints, slopes, and fixture installations before they are covered by walls or concrete.
- Testing: Oversee system testing, including hydrostatic (water) and pneumatic (air) pressure tests,
to ensure zero leaks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), or local municipal regulations.
4. Safety & Documentation
- OSHA Compliance: Enforce job site safety rules, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe trenching/shoring practices.
- Reporting: Maintain daily logs tracking labor hours, progress made, material usage, and any incidents or delays.
- RFI & Change Orders: Identify design discrepancies and initiate Requests for Information (RFIs) or change order requests when field conditions differ from the plans.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on plumbing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership, foreman, or supervisory role.
- Licensure: A valid Journeyman or Master Plumber license is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of commercial/residential plumbing systems, advanced blueprint reading, and proficiency with testing equipment.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, conflict resolution, clear communication, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Schedule Adherence: Delivering plumbing milestones on or ahead of the master construction schedule.
- Rework Percentage: Keeping errors and failed code inspections to an absolute minimum.
- Safety Record: Maintaining a zero-accident or zero-incident record for their crew.
- Budget Management: Controlling material waste and managing labor hours to prevent budget overruns.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,917.78 per month
