Job Summary
Cvent s Platform Services team is looking for a Senior Cloud Systems/Platform Engineer based in India. You ll work shifted hours to provide morning overlap with the US team, covering day-to-day Linux operations, driving automation initiatives, and taking technical lead ownership on infrastructure and application projects. This is a hands-on role - we want someone who identifies toil and builds solutions, not just executes tickets.
In This Role, You Will
- Provide Follow-the-Sun Linux operations coverage; monitor, respond to incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
- Administer Rocky Linux / RHEL / CentOS systems across on-prem datacenters (SF, CO, Amsterdam) and cloud environments.
- Design and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and inventories for configuration management, patching, and deployments.
- Manage OS lifecycle and patching using tools such as Foreman, Satellite, or equivalent.
- Build and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines (declarative/Jenkinsfile); integrate automation tooling into release workflows.
- Manage Git repositories and IaC version control; enforce code review and change management practices.
- Administer and troubleshoot Java application servers (WebLogic, Tomcat) and web servers (NGINX, Apache).
- Support workloads in GCP, AWS, and/or Azure; contribute to cloud migration projects.
- Work with Kubernetes/GKE for containerized workload operations and deployments.
- Lead and contribute to migration of legacy monitoring platforms to Datadog, including APM, centralized logging, security monitoring, dashboards, and alerting.
- Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted tooling into automation and operational workflows (e.g., AI powered observability, LLM-assisted scripting,
intelligent alerting).
- Write clean, maintainable Bash and Python scripts for operational tooling.
- Participate in on-call rotation; collaborate daily with US-based engineers and management.
Here's What You Need
Must-have
- 7+ years Linux sysadmin experience in production enterprise environments (Rocky Linux, RHEL, CentOS).
- 3+ years hands-on Ansible/AWX - writing playbooks, roles, and inventories from scratch.
- Jenkins CI/CD pipeline experience (declarative syntax / Jenkinsfile).
- Git proficiency - branching strategies, IaC version control, PR workflows.
- Hands-on cloud experience - AWS preferred, GCP and Azure helpful. Ability to administer and deploy workloads, not just familiarity.
- Shifted schedule availability for US morning overlap (~4:00 PM-12:30 AM IST).
- Solid English communication skills - daily collaboration with US team.
- Kubernetes / GKE experience.
Nice-to-have
- AI tooling exposure - AI-assisted observability, LLM-integrated scripting, or automation platforms with AI capabilities.
- OS patch management tooling: Foreman, Satellite, or equivalent.
- Java app server administration: WebLogic, Tomcat.
- Infrastructure-as-code in cloud environments.
- Additional CI/CD tooling: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD.
- Monitoring/observability platforms - Datadog preferred; Checkmk, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar also relevant.
- F5 BIG-IP or enterprise load balancer exposure.
- Multi-cloud (AWS + Azure/GCP) experience.
