About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer / Software Tester to own quality across two active production applications: a customer-facing web application built on React JS and a business application built on PHP Laravel. You will be responsible for designing and executing manual test cases as well as building and maintaining automated test suites, working closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure both applications are reliable, performant, and bug-free before every release.

Key Responsibilities

Manual Testing

- Analyze requirements, user stories, and design documents to create detailed test plans and test cases for both the React JS front-end and the PHP Laravel back-end.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, UI/UX, cross-browser, and cross-device testing across both applications.
- Log, track, and verify defects using a bug-tracking tool (e.g., Jira), providing clear reproduction steps and severity/priority assessment.
- Conduct API testing for Laravel back-end services (e.g., using Postman) to validate request/response behavior, status codes, and data integrity.
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases not covered by scripted test cases.
- Validate database changes and data flows relevant to test scenarios (basic SQL query writing).

Automation Testing

- Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts for UI testing of the React JS application (e.g., using Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright).
- Develop automated API test suites for the Laravel application (e.g., using Postman/Newman, RestAssured,



or PHPUnit).
- Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to enable continuous testing on every build/deployment.
- Maintain and refactor existing automation frameworks; identify opportunities to increase automation coverage and reduce manual regression effort.
- Analyze automated test results, triage failures, and distinguish genuine defects from flaky tests or environment issues.

Collaboration & Process

- Work closely with developers and product owners across both application teams to understand feature scope and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and release readiness reviews; provide QA sign-off before production deployments.
- Contribute to and continuously improve QA processes, test documentation, and testing standards across both projects.
- Support UAT cycles and coordinate with stakeholders during pre-release validation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 2–5 years of experience in software testing, with demonstrated exposure to both manual and automation testing.
- Hands-on experience testing web applications built on React JS (component behavior, state-driven UI,



responsive layouts) is required.
- Hands-on experience testing PHP Laravel applications (MVC structure, APIs, back-end workflows) is required.
- Practical experience with at least one automation tool/framework such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, and familiarity with RestAssured or PHPUnit for automated API tests.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and basic database testing.
- Familiarity with bug-tracking and test management tools (Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or equivalent).
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) for integrating automated tests.
- Solid understanding of the software testing lifecycle (STLC), test case design techniques, and defect life cycle.
- Robust analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear written/verbal communication.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Good to Have

- Experience with performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6).
- Basic scripting knowledge in JavaScript and/or PHP to extend automation frameworks.
- Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative branching workflows.
- Familiarity with mobile/responsive web testing and accessibility testing basics.
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification (or equivalent).

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month Work Location: Hybrid remote in Esplanade, Kolkata, West Bengal
