Job Summary

MedKarma Healthcare Solutions is looking for an experienced Medical Coding Manager to lead and manage medical coding operations for US healthcare accounts.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in US Medical Coding, proven team-management experience, and expertise in specialty coding, particularly Cardiology, Urgent Care, Paediatrics, and Pathology/Laboratory.

The candidate will be responsible for managing coding teams, ensuring productivity and quality targets, conducting audits, developing training programs, managing coding compliance, and driving continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage medical coders and senior coders, including workload allocation and performance monitoring.
- Ensure achievement of productivity, accuracy, quality and TAT targets.
- Conduct regular coding audits and provide feedback and coaching.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans for performance or quality gaps.
- Oversee coding operations across Cardiology, Urgent Care, Paediatrics and Pathology/Laboratory.
- Ensure accurate application of CPT, HCPCS Level II and ICD-10-CM codes.
- Ensure compliance with AMA CPT, CMS guidelines, NCD/LCD and payer-specific policies.
- Monitor coding-related denials and identify trends and root causes.
- Develop and improve coding workflows, SOPs and quality checklists.
- Prepare and present MIS reports covering productivity, quality, TAT and denial trends.
- Coordinate with RCM, IT and other internal teams for process and system improvements.




- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for new and existing coders.
- Participate in recruitment, interviews and onboarding of medical coding professionals.
- Stay updated on annual coding changes, regulatory updates and payer guidelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 8-10+ years of experience in US Medical Coding.
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a Team Lead / Supervisor / Manager role.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM.
- Experience with US healthcare coding and billing processes.
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payer guidelines.
- Experience in one or more of the following specialties: Cardiology, Urgent Care, Paediatrics, Pathology / Laboratory
- CPC, CCS, CCS-P or equivalent medical coding certification Mandatory.
- Robust knowledge of coding audits and quality processes.
- Good understanding of RCM, claim lifecycle and denials management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and basic formulas.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and people-management skills.
- Strong ability to train, mentor and develop coding teams.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biotechnology, BPT or related healthcare field.

Certification (Mandatory)

- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) from AAPC, or equivalent such as CCS/CCSP from AHIMA, or other recognized coding certifications.
