Lead UI Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead UI Engineer to own the design and delivery of scalable frontend solutions for enterprise applications. You will combine hands-on development with technical leadership, helping define UI architecture, strengthen design system adoption, and ensure the user experience is performant, accessible, and maintainable. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building robust interfaces while guiding others toward high engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and evolution of scalable UI architecture for enterprise web applications.

- Build and maintain reusable UI components, design system patterns, and implementation standards.

- Translate product and UX requirements into maintainable, testable frontend solutions.

- Collaborate closely with UX, Product, and Engineering teams to align user needs with technical feasibility.

- Review frontend code and architecture to improve quality, consistency, performance, and accessibility.

- Guide teams on frontend structure, development practices, tooling, and testing approaches.

- Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across multiple workstreams or product teams.

- Support adoption of modern frontend frameworks and development practices.

How You Will Do It

- Take ownership of UI outcomes with accountability for quality, maintainability, security, and accessible delivery.

- Stay close to the work by partnering with UX, Product, and Engineering to remove friction and turn requirements into practical solutions.

- Use architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and iterative problem-solving to improve the platform every day.





- Build trust across teams by sharing clear guidance, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with diverse perspectives.

- Apply strong frontend engineering discipline across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern framework-based development.

- Use Azure DevOps and Git effectively for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and change management.

- Design with responsive behavior, performance, and WCAG accessibility in mind from the start.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in frontend or UI development.

- Proven experience leading scalable enterprise UI solutions or frontend architecture.

- Strong hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and contemporary UI frameworks such as React or Angular.

- Experience with enterprise design systems, reusable component libraries, and modular frontend patterns.

- Proficiency with Azure DevOps and Git for development workflows, CI/CD, and code management.

- Solid understanding of performance, accessibility, responsive design, and maintainable code practices.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction.

Nice to Have

- Experience with jQuery, Bootstrap or other CSS frameworks, and Node.js.

- Exposure to design tokens, shared UI libraries, and governance for large-scale design systems.

- Experience conducting cross-team architecture reviews or supporting multiple product teams.
