Skills and experience
- Minimum 4 years in systems and infrastructure administration in an enterprise environment (6 or more preferred). - Strong hands-on Windows Server and Linux server administration. - Strong VMware virtualisation administration. - Strong Microsoft Azure administration. - Active Directory and Entra ID at an infrastructure and policy level (health,configuration, governance). - Hands-on management of network switching and wireless — Cisco switches and wireless, and Aruba wireless. Firewall administration is not required. - Infrastructure patching experience — firmware and OS updates across physical compute, storage, and network hardware, and virtualisation platforms. - Backup and recovery administration, including fault diagnosis and remediation. - Working knowledge of vulnerability management and access governance. - Awareness of the ACSC Essential Eight, NIST CSF, or ISO 27001 sufficient to implement controls. - Experience working within ITIL-based change management. - Demonstrated ability to work independently, set their own priorities, and drive work to completion without close supervision. - Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with non technical staff. - Certifications desirable: Cisco CCNA, Microsoft AZ-104, VMware Certified Professional, CompTIA Security+. - GMP or other regulated industry experience advantageous but not essential.
Key accountabilities
- Administer and maintain the virtual server environment across VMware and Azure, - including host and guest management. Responsible for keeping the environment - healthy, monitoring for issues, and resolving faults. - Administer Azure cloud services and supporting infrastructure,
including - configuration, capacity monitoring, and cost-efficient operation.
Escalate architectural - or investment decisions to the Head of Digital and Technology.
- Maintain and manage network switching and wireless — Cisco switches and wireless - across the workplace, and Aruba wireless at the Adelaide site.
- Perform infrastructure patching — firmware and OS updates for physical compute, - storage, and network hardware, and for VMware and other virtualisation platforms.
- Responsible for server and endpoint patching — setting the approach and schedule, - and ensuring cycles are completed.
Routine execution is carried out by BioCina staff; - this role tracks completion and addresses any slippage or failures.
- Responsible for the ongoing operation of the backup environment — maintaining - backup infrastructure, investigating and resolving failures, and confirming data remains recoverable.
- Triage and remediate vulnerability findings relevant to servers and infrastructure, and - report on progress.
- Maintain Active Directory and Entra ID health, policy, and configuration, and support - access governance and periodic access reviews.
- Implement infrastructure changes arising from cyber security remediation roadmap.
- Log and manage all changes through Jira Service Management in accordance with - ITIL-based change control procedure.
- Support computer system validation and qualification by maintaining accurate - configuration records and audit-trail settings.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, runbooks, and configuration records within systems.
- Direct on-site colleagues for physical tasks and act as an escalation point above L1 for infrastructure matters.
- Contribute to Digital project work.
