ShelterArms brings together professionals including developmental specialists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, and other trained professionals to provide multidisciplinary support. Its services include occupational therapy, behavioural therapy, ABA therapy, social-skills training, school-readiness programs, sensory integration, and other developmental interventions.
Role Description – Special Educator
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Special Educator to join our multidisciplinary team. The candidate will work closely with children with developmental and learning needs and provide individualized educational support based on their abilities, strengths, and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct educational and developmental assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group educational interventions.
- Support children with learning difficulties, developmental delays, autism, ADHD, and other special educational needs.
- Develop academic, communication, social, behavioural, and functional skills.
- Monitor and document individual progress.
- Coordinate with parents, therapists, psychologists, and other professionals.
- Provide parents with appropriate guidance and home-based learning strategies.
- Maintain accurate session records and progress reports.
- Support school-readiness and inclusive-learning goals.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Special Education or a relevant field
- B.Ed.
Special
Education / D.Ed.
Special
Education preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
- RCI registration will be an added advantage, where applicable
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong observation and documentation skills
- Patience, empathy, creativity, and a child-centred approach
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
