- Advocacy Assistant!

Thunder Bay Community Health Service, Inc. (TBCHS) is looking for a Communications and Advocacy Assistant to help share our story, strengthen our community connections, support advocacy efforts, and keep important organizational initiatives moving forward.
What You’ll Do
This agile position works closely with our CEO and executive leadership team to support a wide variety of communication, advocacy, marketing, and event initiatives.
You’ll Have The Opportunity To:
- ✍️
- Draft and distribute internal and external communications, announcements, updates, and leadership messages.
- ?
- Help coordinate advocacy alerts, legislative visits, community presentations, and other advocacy activities.
- ?
- Manage communication and advocacy calendars while helping coordinate the CEO’s schedule and other organizational meetings.
- ?
- Assist with website content, social media, electronic signage, and other communication platforms.
- ?
- Coordinate projects with marketing, advertising, graphic design, photography, and video vendors.
- ?
- Help plan and coordinate community events, health fairs, Community Health Center Week, workshops, and other special events.
- ?
- Keep important communications, promotional materials, and organizational resources organized and accessible.
- ?
- Support leadership with presentations, meeting materials, correspondence, special projects, and more.
What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities. We’re Looking For Someone With:
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management abilities.
- The ability to manage deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using digital communication platforms, social media, websites, presentation tools, and other workplace technology.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with leadership, employees, community partners, vendors, media contacts,
and the public.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
- A willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
An associate’s degree in communications, marketing, business, public administration, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant professional experience. Healthcare, nonprofit, community health, advocacy, media, or vendor coordination experience is a plus! Why Join TBCHS?
