A Steel and Power Division Company is looking for an experienced procurement professional to lead purchasing of engineering spares, consumables, and maintenance materials for its plant in Odisha.

Based at the Delhi corporate office, this role works closely with the plant's engineering, stores, and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability, strong vendor relationships, and cost-effective procurement across the site.

Base Location: Delhi (Corporate Office), with regular coordination and travel to the Odisha plant as and when required.

Experience: 5–10 years in engineering stores / spares purchase

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical) preferred; MBA / PG Diploma in Materials Management an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end procurement of engineering stores items for the Odisha plant — mechanical and electrical spares, bearings, valves, pumps, motors, consumables, MRO items, and other maintenance materials.
- Coordinate closely with plant stores, maintenance, and production teams to understand requirements, criticality, and lead times.
- Identify and develop reliable vendors and OEMs for engineering spares and industrial consumables.
- Float RFQs and enquiries, conduct techno-commercial evaluation, negotiate pricing, and finalize purchase orders.
- Plan procurement proactively to prevent production downtime caused by non-availability of critical spares.
- Monitor inventory of critical and insurance spares with the plant stores team, and support min-max and reorder-level planning.
- Track order status, expedite deliveries, and coordinate logistics and dispatch to the Odisha plant.
- Maintain the vendor database, rate contracts,



and annual maintenance contracts (AMCs) for engineering items.
- Ensure procurement activity complies with purchase policy, budget approvals, and internal controls.
- Negotiate payment terms, credit periods, and pricing to optimize cost savings.
- Coordinate with accounts/finance on vendor payments, invoice discrepancies, and reconciliation.
- Prepare MIS reports on purchase status, cost savings, vendor performance, and pending indents.
- Support internal and statutory audits relating to engineering stores procurement.
- Evaluate import and indigenous substitution options for spares where applicable.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong working knowledge of engineering, mechanical, and electrical spares used in steel and power plants — bearings, gearboxes, motors, pumps, valves, and instrumentation items.
- Sound understanding of technical specifications, sufficient to coordinate confidently with engineering and maintenance teams.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP (MM module) or equivalent procurement software.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with MIS reporting.
- Excellent follow-up, coordination, and communication skills, given the requirement to manage plant needs remotely from Delhi.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage urgent or critical procurement requirements.

Qualification & Experience

- Education: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical) preferred; MBA or PG Diploma in Materials Management is an added advantage. Graduates with a strong technical or industrial purchase background may also be considered.
- Experience: 5–10 years in engineering stores/spares purchase, preferably within steel, power, cement, or heavy engineering industries.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per month
