Team Reporting In - Engineering Team (design, drafting, permitting)

Role Overview

This is a senior, full-time, on-site role based in Pune, focused on the Company's solar PV and energy storage service engagements for US clients. The position carries end-to-end responsibility for engineering delivery, technical ownership, client coordination, and management of the Company's Engineering Team.

The role carries full accountability for the performance, output, and quality of the Engineering Team, including all technical deliverables, compliance standards, and delivery timelines agreed with clients under the applicable scope of work. It combines technical depth with managerial responsibility from the date of joining.

3. Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

3.1 Engineering & Project Delivery Accountability

- Own and drive end-to-end delivery of the Company's engineering scope on US solar PV and ESS projects, from project initiation / kickoff to final submission and handover to the client
- Plan, track, and manage schedules, milestones, and delivery timelines across the Company's project portfolio
- Be accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and readiness of all engineering outputs
- Take final responsibility for all deliverables produced by the Engineering Team

3.2 Technical Review, Approval & Compliance

- Review and approve engineering outputs including designs, drawings, calculations, and permit plans / permit sets
- Ensure deliverables comply with:
- National Electrical Code (NEC USA) and applicable US codes
- Applicable AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements
- Utility guidelines and client-specified standards under the scope of work
- Exercise reasonable technical diligence in identifying design risks, non-conformance, and potential issues affecting delivery

3.3 Engineering Team Leadership

- Manage, supervise, mentor, and scale the Companys Engineering Team
- Allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure team productivity and accountability
- Act as the primary escalation point within the Company for all engineering-related issues




- Drive adherence to internal processes, quality standards, and committed timelines

3.4 Client Coordination & Stakeholder Management

- Act as the Company’s primary technical and project interface with client representatives
- Coordinate, on the Company’s behalf and within the agreed scope of work, with client project teams, field teams, utilities, AHJs, and manufacturers
- Ensure alignment on technical scope, deliverables, and timelines as recorded in the applicable service agreement or work order
- Lead and participate in client-facing technical discussions, including design presentations, system explanations, and resolution of client queries relating to engineering scope, system design, and technical feasibility

3.5 Permitting & Approvals Support

- Oversee preparation of permit-ready documentation and its submission in accordance with the client’s instructions and the agreed scope
- Ensure timely response to permit comments and re-submissions
- Ensure all documentation meets applicable regulatory and jurisdictional requirements

3.6 Design Oversight & Execution

- Oversee engineering activities including site survey reviews, system design and layout, shade analysis, and production estimates
- Ensure adherence to design standards, best practices, and installation feasibility

3.7 Quality Control & Process Improvement

- Establish, implement, and enforce engineering SOPs, quality benchmarks, and review mechanisms
- Establish and improve delivery metrics
- Drive continuous improvement in design accuracy, turnaround time, and first-pass approval rates

3.8 Risk Management & Issue Resolution

- Identify and mitigate risks relating to engineering, permitting, and delivery
- Identify quality issues and bottlenecks and drive corrective actions
- Handle technical escalations and ensure timely resolution
- Take proactive action to prevent operational, financial, or reputational impact to the Company

3.9 Tools, Systems & Technical Oversight

- Ensure effective usage and output quality from tools including AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, and other relevant platforms
- Ensure team capability and consistency in technical execution

3.10 Client Escalation Management & Service Experience

- Act as the Company’s primary technical owner for resolution of client escalations relating to engineering scope, design, permitting, and delivery
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, project management, and operations)



to ensure timely and effective resolution of client concerns
- Provide clear, accurate, and professional communication to internal stakeholders for client-facing responses, ensuring alignment with Company standards
- Proactively identify recurring issues leading to client escalations and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve the overall service experience delivered to clients, including:
- Reduction in design errors and rework
- Faster turnaround times
- Improved first-pass approvals and fewer revision cycles
- Establish and implement process improvements and quality checks aimed at minimizing client complaints and enhancing delivery consistency
- Support management in tracking and reporting escalation trends, resolution timelines, and improvement initiatives

Performance Accountability The role holder shall be accountable for:

- Engineering delivery timelines
- Quality and accuracy of submissions
- First-pass approval rates
- Engineering team productivity and performance
- Effectiveness of client escalation resolution and reduction in recurring issues

Eligibility Criteria

- 6–9+ years of hands-on experience on solar PV and ESS projects. Experience gained exclusively on US solar PV and ESS projects will be preferred; candidates whose experience is drawn primarily from non-US markets are unlikely to meet the technical requirements of this role.
- Prior experience in a Project Manager, Project Coordination, or Delivery Lead role on US projects
- Proven experience managing and leading engineering teams
- Strong working knowledge of US permitting workflows, codes, and review processes
- Willingness and ability to work the 2:30 pm – 12:30 am IST shift from the Pune office
- Immediate joiners preferred

Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; candidates with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, supported by relevant experience, may also be considered
- Strong technical understanding of solar PV and energy storage systems
- Ability to review and approve engineering outputs independently
- Working proficiency in AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, or equivalent design and simulation platforms
- Robust communication skills for direct interaction with US-based clients
- Familiarity with SolarEdge, Enphase, and Tesla Energy platforms is an advantage
- NABCEP or similar US-focused certifications are an advantage

Nature of the Role & Accountability

- This is a high-ownership role requiring independent decision-making and execution
- The role holder is expected to operate with minimal supervision and deliver outcomes in line with Company expectations
- The role carries both technical depth and managerial responsibility from the date of joining
