PLANT MANAGER – MULTI-PLANT OPERATIONS

Reporting To: Managing Director / CEO
About the Role
Zebec Food & Beverages is looking for an experienced and hands-on Plant Manager to take complete ownership of Production and Manufacturing Operations across our Manapparai and Acharapakkam plants.
The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring that both plants operate safely, efficiently, consistently and profitably, with a strong focus on production output, quality, productivity, cost control, manpower utilisation, preventive maintenance coordination and on-time production.
This is a high-ownership leadership role. The selected candidate will be expected to take complete control of day-to-day production operations across both locations and build a strong, disciplined and performance-driven manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete Production Ownership
* Take end-to-end responsibility for production operations at both Manapparai and Acharapakkam plants.
- Prepare and execute production plans based on business requirements.
- Ensure achievement of daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
- Monitor production schedules, output, yields, downtime and production efficiency.
- Ensure optimum utilisation of plant capacity, machinery and manpower.
- Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks.
- Drive continuous improvement in productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
1. Multi-Plant Management
* Manage and coordinate production activities across both plants.
- Establish common operating standards, systems and KPIs across the two locations.
- Regularly review performance of both plants and take corrective action wherever required.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between the two plant teams.
- Travel between Manapparai and Acharapakkam as required to maintain operational control.
1. Manpower & Team Leadership
* Lead production managers, shift in-charges, supervisors, operators and contract workforce.
- Plan manpower requirements based on production volumes.
- Ensure optimum deployment of manpower across shifts.
- Build a disciplined, accountable and performance-oriented production team.
- Set clear responsibilities, targets and KPIs for production personnel.
- Identify training requirements and develop the capabilities of the plant team.
1. Production Efficiency & Cost Control
* Improve OEE, line efficiency, labour productivity and machine utilisation.
- Reduce production losses, wastage, rework and downtime.
- Monitor material consumption against standards.
- Control manufacturing costs without compromising quality.
- Drive initiatives to improve yield and reduce conversion costs.
- Analyse production variances and implement corrective measures.
1. Quality & Food Safety
* Ensure production is carried out according to approved quality standards and SOPs.
- Work closely with QA/QC to maintain consistent product quality.
- Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene and GMP requirements.
- Prevent quality deviations through strong process controls.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for production-related quality issues.
- Ensure proper documentation and production records.
1. Maintenance Coordination
* Coordinate closely with the Maintenance team to minimise machine breakdowns.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Monitor production-related downtime and recurring equipment issues.
- Work with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and availability.
- Participate in decisions relating to machinery improvements and capacity enhancement.
1. Process & Systems
* Establish and enforce production SOPs and work instructions.
- Strengthen production reporting and MIS systems.
- Ensure accurate recording of production, wastage, downtime, yield and manpower data.
- Introduce daily production review mechanisms.
- Establish clear accountability at every level of the production organisation.
1. Safety & Compliance
* Ensure strict compliance with plant safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees and contract workers.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturing operations.
- Conduct regular safety reviews and implement corrective actions.
1. New Product & Capacity Expansion
* Support trials and commercialisation of new products.
- Coordinate production trials, process validation and scale-up.
- Assess production capacity and identify additional machinery/manpower requirements.
- Support plant expansion and process improvement projects.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Plant Manager will be measured on:
- Production target achievement
- OEE / machine efficiency
- Production yield

- Downtime and breakdown losses
- On-time production completion
- Quality rejection / rework

Candidate Profile
Experience
- 12–20 years of relevant manufacturing / production experience.
- Strong experience in Food & Beverage / FMCG / Food Processing manufacturing preferred.
- Candidates with experience managing large-scale food manufacturing plants will be preferred.
- Experience managing multiple plants or multiple production lines is highly desirable.
- Should have strong exposure to production planning, manpower management, productivity improvement and cost control.

- Comfortable travelling between Manapparai and Acharapakkam
- Capable of building systems rather than depending on individuals
Educational Qualification
- Degree / Diploma in Food Technology, Food Processing, Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
- Additional qualifications in manufacturing / operations management will be an advantage.
