Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Head to lead and manage our Ferro Alloys (Chrome) manufacturing operations at Khordha. The role requires strong technical expertise, operational excellence, and leadership capabilities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations while meeting production and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations & Production
• Oversee end-to-end plant operations for Ferro Chrome / Chrome-based alloy production.
- Ensure achievement of production targets, efficiency, and yield optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement in furnace operations, raw material utilization, and process stability.
1. Technical & Process Excellence
• Strong understanding of submerged arc furnaces (SAF) and alloy manufacturing processes.
- Optimize process parameters to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
- Lead technology upgrades and modernization initiatives.
1. Safety, Compliance & Sustainability
• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and statutory compliance.
- Develop and enforce best-in-class safety practices.
- Drive a zero-incident safety culture across the plant.
1. Maintenance & Utilities
• Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
- Maintain high equipment availability and reliability of furnaces, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
- Oversee utility management (power, water, fuel, etc.).
1. Cost Optimization
• Monitor and control plant operating costs, power consumption, and raw material usage.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and safety
1. Team Leadership & Development
• Lead a large team of engineers, supervisors, and operators.
- Build a high-performance culture with focus on accountability and continuous learning.
- Develop succession planning and workforce capability.
1. Quality & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to product quality standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain compliance with statutory, environmental, and regulatory norms.
1. Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with corporate teams, procurement, logistics, and external agencies.
- Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies as required.
Key Requirements
Education
- Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- MBA (Operations) is an added advantage
Experience
- 1520 years in Ferro Alloys / Metallurgical Industry Minimum 5–7 years in a leadership role (Plant Head / Unit Head / Operations Head)
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Ferro Chrome production processes
- Experience with Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) operations
- Understanding of power-intensive industrial operations
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in Chrome / Ferro Alloys manufacturing plants is mandatory
- Experience handling large-scale integrated plants
- Familiarity with Odisha region / regulatory setting is an advantage
