Key Responsibilities:

Prescription Review &

- Dispensing

- Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.

- Check for drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and dosage errors.

- Dispense medications accurately as per prescriptions.

- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.

In-Patient (IP) Pharmacy Duties

- Process medication orders and indents from hospital wards.

- Maintain patient medication profiles and records.

- Coordinate with doctors and nursing staff regarding therapy changes.

- Ensure timely and accurate supply of medicines to wards and ICUs.

- Monitor high-risk medications and controlled drugs.

Out-Patient (OP) Pharmacy Duties

- Dispense medicines to outpatients based on prescriptions.

- Provide patient counseling on dosage, administration, and precautions.

- Handle billing and ensure correct invoicing.

- Manage patient flow and reduce waiting time.

Inventory &

- Store Management

- Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of essential drugs.





- Track expiry dates and ensure FEFO/FIFO compliance.

- Manage procurement coordination and vendor communication.

- Maintain records for narcotic and schedule drugs as per legal requirements.

- Conduct periodic stock audits.

Regulatory Compliance &

- Quality

- Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and hospital policies.

- Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections.

- Follow infection control and safety protocols.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Team Coordination &

- Supervision

- Guide and supervise junior pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.

- Train recent staff on pharmacy procedures and systems.

- Coordinate with other departments for smooth workflow.

Patient Care &

- Safety

- Provide drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.

- Report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) when identified.

- Promote rational use of medicines.
