Key responsibilities

- Review assigned healthcare documentation and identify relevant clinical information.
- Apply medical terminology knowledge to understand diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Practice assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM codes under defined guidelines and supervision.
- Work with CPT coding concepts for applicable procedure and service documentation.
- Review coding assignments for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify missing, unclear, or inconsistent information in documentation.
- Maintain coding worksheets and assignment records accurately.
- Follow established coding guidelines, project instructions, and quality standards.
- Research coding references when clarification is required.
- Assist with basic quality checks and error identification.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling healthcare-related information.




- Document questions and escalate coding uncertainties to the appropriate reviewer.
