Role & responsibilities
Evaluates, diagnoses, and surgically treats various cancers while strictly adhering to standardized quality, patient safety, and infection control protocols
Clinical Evaluation & Diagnosis: Examine patients, evaluate solid tumors, and perform biopsies or tissue sampling to confirm malignancy and determine cancer stages.
Surgical Interventions: Perform complex curative, palliative, debulking, or preventive cancer surgeries (open or minimally invasive/laparoscopic) with accurate tumor margins.
Multidisciplinary Tumor Board: Actively participate in tumor board meetings alongside medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists to formulate evidence-based treatment sequences.
NABH Compliance & Patient Safety: Follow rigorous hospital protocols regarding surgical safety checklists, infection control, adverse event reporting, and patient consent procedures.
Perioperative Care: Manage comprehensive pre-operative risk assessments and post-operative recovery,
addressing surgical complications promptly.
Audit and Quality Control: Take part in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality (M&M;) meetings, and continuous medical education (CME) as required by NABH standards.
Preferred candidate profile
Education: MBBS followed by an MS in General Surgery, and a super-specialty degree (M.Ch or DNB) in Surgical Oncology from a recognized institution.
Registration: Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council.
Experience: 3 to 10+ years of clinical experience as a specialist in managing oncology inpatients, outpatients, and emergency cases.
Competencies: Advanced surgical dexterity, leadership in multidisciplinary teams, robust communication skills for patient counseling, and absolute adherence to quality management systems in healthcare.
