Firmware Test Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Firmware Test Engineer with 5+ years of experience in firmware and embedded system testing. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience testing physical access controllers, readers, communication interfaces, Linux-based systems, and automation frameworks.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test strategies, validating communication protocols, identifying defects, and building automated test scripts to ensure the reliability, performance, and quality of embedded products.

Key Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in Firmware/Embedded Testing.
- Strong understanding of UART, RS485, SPI and other embedded communication interfaces.
- Experience with Linux OS testing and embedded Linux environments.
- Positive understanding of communication protocols and ability to validate protocol implementation.
- Hands-on experience with RS485 interface tools and communication/network sniffing tools.
- Exposure to test automation using Python.
- Experience with automation/testing frameworks such as Selenium or Playwright is preferred.
- Experience testing physical access controllers, access control devices, and readers is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform manual and functional testing of physical access controllers and readers.




- Set up and configure test environments involving physical access controllers, readers, and embedded devices.
- Execute detailed test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios.
- Validate communication between devices using UART, RS485, SPI, and related interfaces.
- Validate implementation of communication protocols and identify protocol-level issues.
- Use RS485 interface tools, protocol analyzers, sniffing tools, and debugging utilities for troubleshooting.
- Identify, document, track, and verify defects using appropriate defect-tracking tools.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts, preferably using Python.
- Execute regression, stress, load, performance, integration, and system testing.
- Analyze test results and provide detailed test reports and defect documentation.
- Collaborate with firmware developers, hardware engineers, and other QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Participate in test planning, test case reviews, and continuous improvement of testing processes.
- Ensure firmware releases meet defined quality, reliability, performance, and functional requirements.
