Roles & Responsibilities
- Retouch, enhance, and color-correct images to meet customer expectations and comply with JCPenney Brand Standards, Photography Guidelines, Style Guides, and Promotional Toolkits.
- Interpret and execute image retouching and color correction guidelines to consistently achieve JCPenney quality standards.
- Perform image editing and remediation activities as detailed in specification guides provided by Image Management.
- Upload, edit, and manage product imagery, including creation of swatches, ensembles, hover images, visual navigation assets, marketing tiles, and other image or video-based creative content.
- Remediate image issues by removing duplicate images, correcting image alignment, updating colors and color names, extending backgrounds, and resolving other image quality concerns.
- Maintain proficiency in both CMYK and RGB color spaces, with a strong understanding of color management, print profiles,
and monitor calibration processes.
- Ensure daily color calibration of software and monitors to maintain consistency with the Home Office production environment.
- Adhere to established file management, workflow, and production guidelines as defined by the Pre-Press team.
- Consistently execute quality assurance processes, test plans, and reviews to ensure the accuracy and quality of deliverables.
- Analyze image quality trends and provide divisional-level insights, recommendations, and corrective actions to reduce recurring image issues and improve overall content quality.
- Contribute to the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of image guidelines, SOPs, quality standards, and workflow documentation.
- Track imaging volumes, productivity metrics, and time spent on assignments to support accurate capacity planning and budget forecasting.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to address image-related issues, provide feedback on recurring quality concerns, and drive continuous improvement.
- Learn and adopt new production technologies, tools, automation solutions, and creative workflows as required.
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite effectively, with working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions to develop innovative solutions that enhance the digital shopping experience for customers.
- Monitor team workload, coordinate with technical teams for issue resolution, and support the tracking and publication of team KPIs and performance metrics.
- Collaborate effectively with global cross-functional partners to ensure timely delivery of projects and business objectives.
- Train, mentor,
and support new team members by sharing process knowledge, best practices, and quality standards.
- Demonstrate strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills while successfully managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute as a proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative team member with a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Skills
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in image editing, retouching, creative design, or related digital production roles.
- Experience in retail e-commerce and global organizations is preferred.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating image editing, retouching, color correction, and creative production expertise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.
- Quick learner with strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and consistently deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
- Positive attitude and proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships in support of business objectives.
REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to Manager/Sr. Manager
- Partner with internal teams and all pyramids within the organization
- Partner with external resources, agencies, vendors, and contractors
- Interacts frequently with other headquarters leaders and with senior leadership at JCPenney
Knowledge and Skills
- Expert Photoshop skills required. Should be highly proficient in retouching, masking, color correction, photo manipulation, and compositing images.
- Understanding of color management and print profiles
- Extensive Adobe Suites expertise with an emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop
- Excellent communicator
