Sales Manager

Job Summary
We are looking for a results-driven and proactive Sales Manager to lead institutional sales and business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and acquiring schools and educational institutions, managing the sales pipeline, building strategic partnerships, negotiating deals, and achieving revenue and account acquisition targets.
This is a field-oriented role requiring strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, networking, and sales management skills, along with a willingness to travel across assigned territories.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Institutional Outreach & Business Development
- Identify, approach, and convert prospective schools, educational institutions, and other institutional clients through field visits, calls, referrals, networking, and other outreach channels.
- Develop and execute territory-wise outreach plans aligned with monthly, quarterly, and annual business targets.
- Build and maintain a solid pipeline of qualified institutional prospects.
- Research and identify new markets, geographies, and institutional segments for business expansion.
1. Client Acquisition & Account Management
- Conduct effective product and program presentations for school owners, trustees, directors, principals, HODs, and other key decision-makers.
- Understand client requirements and coordinate with internal teams to develop relevant proposals and program packages.
- Prepare, present, and follow up on business proposals to drive conversions.
- Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Conduct regular client meetings and follow-ups to identify opportunities for repeat business and expansion.
1. Sales Pipeline & Database Management
- Create and maintain a comprehensive database of schools, educational institutions, prospects, channel partners, and key decision-makers.
- Maintain a minimum database of 100+ qualified leads within the assigned territory.
- Maintain an updated sales pipeline covering lead status, interactions, follow-ups, proposals, negotiations, and closure stages.
- Accurately update meeting trackers, call logs, sales reports, and other business development records using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and/or CRM tools.
1. Negotiation & Deal Closure
- Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and closure.
- Lead negotiations with school management, principals, trustees, procurement committees, and other stakeholders.
- Develop commercial proposals and negotiate terms to maximise revenue, profitability, and long-term business value.
- Consistently achieve and, where possible, exceed account acquisition, revenue, and closure targets.
1. Agreements, Collections & Post-Sales Coordination
- Prepare, send, and track service agreements for finalized accounts in coordination with relevant internal teams.
- Follow up on documentation, agreement completion, invoicing, and timely payment collection.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth onboarding and implementation of closed accounts.
- Maintain regular communication with clients during the post-sales and implementation stages.

Channel Partner & Strategic Partnerships
- Identify, research, onboard, and manage channel partners, institutions, businesses, and other strategic stakeholders.
- Develop mutually beneficial partnerships to generate leads and expand market reach.
- Build a strong professional network within the education and institutional ecosystem.
- Explore partnership opportunities that can contribute to business growth and client acquisition.
1. Market Research & Business Strategy
- Conduct regular research on market trends, competitor offerings, pricing, institutional requirements, and emerging opportunities.
- Analyse competitor activity and identify opportunities for differentiation.
- Research and qualify potential leads and develop targeted outreach strategies.
- Provide market insights and recommendations to the leadership team.
1. Sales & Marketing Planning
- Contribute to the development and execution of sales and marketing plans.
- Support the setting of sales goals and targets for different products and offerings.
- Identify opportunities to improve brand visibility, lead generation, market penetration, and revenue growth.
- Monitor the effectiveness of outreach and sales activities and recommend improvements.
1. Events, Conferences & Brand Representation
- Represent the organisation at education conferences, exhibitions, institutional events, networking meets, and other business forums.
- Support event planning, stall setup, presentations, promotional activities, and lead generation.
- Build professional networks through industry events and conferences.
- Ensure timely follow-up and conversion of leads generated through events.
1. Team Training & Support
- Support the training, mentoring, and coaching of Sales Associates and other team members when required.
- Share successful sales practices, market insights, and client feedback with the wider team.
- Assist team members in improving prospecting, presentations, negotiations, and follow-up practices.
1. Budget & Performance Management
- Support planning and management of budgets for field activities, client meetings, events, conferences, and outreach campaigns.
- Ensure effective utilisation of approved sales and marketing resources.
- Monitor field and sales-related expenditure within approved budgets.
- Prepare sales reports, dashboards, activity reports, and management updates.
1. Sales Performance & Reporting
- Track and analyse key sales performance indicators, including:
- Lead generation
- Qualified leads
- Meetings and presentations
- Pipeline value
- Proposals submitted
- Conversion rates
- Account closures
- Revenue
- Collections
- Provide regular sales updates, business insights, and recommendations to the Sales Lead/Leadership Team.
- Identify gaps in sales performance and implement corrective action plans.
1. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Academic, Content, Program, Operations, Finance,
and other internal teams.
- Act as a bridge between clients and internal teams to ensure clear communication of client requirements and expectations.
- Ensure smooth transition from sales closure to onboarding and implementation.
- Support client retention by ensuring timely resolution of business and operational requirements.
1. Travel & Field Engagement
- Travel across assigned cities and towns for client meetings, presentations, institutional visits, follow-ups, conferences, networking events, and business development activities.
- Maintain a strong field presence and consistently engage with institutional decision-makers.
- Demonstrate flexibility and readiness to work in a field-oriented role involving regular travel.
Qualification & Experience
- Graduate degree in any discipline; Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related fields preferred.
- Prior experience in B2B sales, institutional sales, education sales, business development, or related fields will be preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of client outreach, cold calling, emailing, lead generation, presentations, negotiations, and follow-ups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets; knowledge of CRM tools is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to create and maintain accurate sales databases and manage 100+ qualified leads.
- Strong understanding of contemporary sales and marketing techniques as well as foundational sales practices.
