Key Responsibilities

· Strategic Sourcing: Procure raw materials including MS Plates (various grades/thicknesses), structural steel (Beams, Channels, Angles, Sections), and welding consumables essential for heavy fabrication.

· Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers while nurturing long-term relationships with existing vendors to ensure priority service.

· Price Negotiation: Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment cycles, and delivery schedules to minimize costs and maximize company profitability.

· Purchase Order (PO) Execution: Oversee the timely creation, approval, and issuance of Purchase Orders in compliance with company policies.

· Inventory Control: Collaborate closely with the stores and inventory team to monitor stock levels, preventing both material stock-outs and excessive capital lock-up.

· Quality & Compliance: Ensure all incoming steel materials match technical specifications and are accompanied by valid Material Test Certificates (MTC).

· Cross-Functional Coordination: Align closely with Production, Design, Quality Control, and Finance/Accounts teams for smooth material forecasting and timely bill processing.





· Market Intelligence: Monitor global and domestic steel price trends to make strategic bulk purchasing decisions at the right time.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering or a Graduate degree with a Diploma/MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management.

· Experience: Minimum 5 to 10 years of core procurement experience in Heavy Steel Fabrication, Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB), Heavy Engineering, or Infrastructure projects.

· Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel grades (e.g., IS 2062 E250/E350, ASTM standards), plate dimensions, and basic fabrication drawing formats.

· Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or Tally) and advanced Microsoft Excel.

· Soft Skills: Outstanding negotiation tactics, sharp analytical skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
