: Project Design & Planning Engineer

Reporting To: Mr. Johnson Li (GM BROAD India) & Mr. Akshay Mangal (Sales Manager, BROAD India)

1. Role Overview BROAD Air Conditioning India Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Project Design & Planning Engineer to support design, engineering, and execution of HVAC and waste heat recovery based chiller systems (VAM and allied solutions). The role requires strong expertise in piping design, instrumentation, CAD drafting, and P&ID; development, along with the ability to coordinate cross-functional project activities.

Key Responsibilities

A. Engineering Design & Documentation

- Develop and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;) for VAM chillers, utilities, and associated systems.
- Prepare BOQ
- Prepare detailed piping layouts including routing, sizing, and material specifications.
- Design instrumentation schemes including selection and placement of sensors, valves, transmitters, and control elements.
- Generate and maintain engineering drawings using CAD,BIM tools (AutoCAD / equivalent).
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable codes/standards.

B. Project Planning & Coordination

- Support project planning, scheduling, and execution in coordination with sales, service, and site teams.
- Prepare engineering deliverables in line with project timelines.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and EPC contractors for drawing approvals and technical clarifications.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and project meetings.

C. Technical Support

- Assist sales team in preparing technical proposals, layouts, and concept designs.
- Provide engineering inputs during tendering and pre-sales stages.
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of existing installations where required.

D. Site Interface & Execution Support

- Review site conditions and provide inputs for installation planning.
- Support site teams during execution for design-related clarifications.



• Ensure alignment between design drawings and actual site implementation.

E. Quality & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, safety norms, and company guidelines.
- Maintain proper documentation and version control of drawings and technical data.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of P&ID; development and interpretation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D); knowledge of 3D and BIM tools is an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience in piping design, layout planning, and material selection.
- Knowledge of instrumentation design and control philosophy.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, especially VAM (Vapor Absorption Machines), will be preferred.
- Understanding of relevant engineering codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

4. Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related field.
- 3-7 years of relevant experience in piping design, HVAC projects, or industrial systems.
- Experience in EPC, HVAC, or energy systems industry will be preferred.

5. Key Deliverables

- Accurate and timely submission of P&IDs; and piping layouts.
- High-quality CAD drawings with minimal revisions.
- Effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical support contributing to successful project closures and execution.
