Role & responsibilities
1. Develop a procurement plan in tandem to the design and project plan which includes preparing bill of material, procurement schedule (equipment, tools, services and supplies), sourcing plan and likely delivery schedule. Devising and using fruitful procurement and sourcing strategies will be key to success.
2. Discover profitable suppliers and initiate procurement partnerships. Identify and issue enquiries with approved / unapproved vendors seeking formal quotation on the bill of material approved. Sourcing maybe done as per the procurement schedule.
3. Ensure the price and terms of quotation sought are as prescribed by the company norms and policies and negotiate for best pricing without compromising on quality, timely delivery or durability of the product or service.
4. Provide appropriate recommendations on the procurement, basis the quotes provided by at least 3 service providers (for each product or service) and the justifications therein low cost, quality, durability, transportation, safety and so forth. All procurement shall be with the approval of the GM - Operations and Chief Finance Officer unless otherwise mandated.
5. Must meet deadlines as per procurement schedule approved for the project site. The vendor commitments shall be closely monitored so that any escalations are brought-up to project team and the senior management in a timely manner.
6. Ensure a robust process of follow-up with vendors and suppliers is maintained. Where required the Project, Engineering and Procurement partners are involved to expedite the procurement requirement.
7. Maintain consistent communication and co-ordination between Projects, Engineering and Procurement teams are maintained to ensure the procurement process is well sustained.
Where required self-initiate discussions with this cross-functional team and take lead in closure.
8. Monitor the requirement of various projects procurement through an efficient tracking mechanism. Periodic reports shall be provided to the senior management, projects and procurement teams on time flagging any concerns or risks of delivery.
9. Complete the acquisition of goods and services in a smooth and timely manner. This includes timely order placement, initial payments made, follow-ups for timely delivery, transport to overseas sites in a cost effective and compliant manner (example paying CIF charges).
10. Facilitate transportation of goods through custom agents and with the project site personnel so that proper and transparent channel of communication is maintained. Requisite documents are made in a timely manner.
11. Participate in joint meetings with site personnel, service providers and / or client representatives. Ensure accurate information is provided on procurement process and guidance on availability of goods on site is clarified.
12. Ensure vendor payments are made in a timely manner and relationships are well maintained. Keep looking for alternate vendors with ability to service the company better. Evaluate existing vendors and negotiate contracts to better terms when opportunity is available.

Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
14. Preparing budgets, providing cost analyses, and reports as and when required by the companys management.
15. In-depth co-ordination with Engineering, Projects and Procurement teams. Work effectively with support functions Finance, HR, Admin.
Preferred candidate profile
1. Must have experience in engineering procurement, having technical knowledge on Oil & Gas sector procurements.
2. Excellent technical and commercial understanding of tools, equipments and machinery required in the EPC domain – ranging from earthing equipments, tanks and piping, electrical and mechanical gear as appropriate.
3. Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market situation.
4. Maintain a keen sense of urgency in getting things done efficiently and effectively.
5. Ability to self-initiate facilitation of process, negotiations, consultation for advise with a view to benefit the organization.
6. Excellent talent in negotiations and networking skills. Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers.
7. Good aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers – well versed with collecting and analyzing requisite data. Also, able to deal with risks, unfavorable events and other contingencies.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Assertive and clear communication is established with internal or external stake-holders.
9. Always Cost conscious and timeliness.
10. Good understanding of the laws and compliances to be adhered for procurement and transportation of goods from home country to overseas locations.
