Company Description Minimalist Hotels is a series of design-led hybrid hotels in India, created for young urban creatives seeking social, local, authentic, and thoughtfully designed experiences. Since opening the first property in 2017, the brand has hosted over 50,000 guests from more than 50 countries across locations in Delhi, Varanasi, and Goa, with new hotels coming soon in Goa and Jaipur. Minimalist spaces blend community-style living with hotel-style amenities, offering both private rooms and shared accommodations under one roof.
Beyond stays, each property is a multidimensional hub featuring food and beverage, events, retail, art, fashion, workshops, and music gigs to foster vibrant community connections. The concept sits at the intersection of design, travel, culture, and community, giving team members the chance to work in dynamic, creative environments.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pan Asian Chef role based at Minimalist VNS in Varanasi.
The Pan Asian
Chef will plan and execute a diverse menu featuring dishes from multiple Asian cuisines, ensuring high-quality preparation, presentation, and consistency aligned with Minimalist’s design-led, community-focused brand. Daily responsibilities include overseeing kitchen operations, managing food prep and cooking, supervising kitchen staff, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and monitoring inventory and ordering supplies. The chef will collaborate with the F&B; and events teams to design seasonal menus, special pop-ups,
and community dining experiences that appeal to international and domestic guests. The role also involves training team members, controlling food costs, and continuously experimenting with flavors and techniques to keep offerings fresh and engaging.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Pan Asian cuisines (e.g., Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese) and proven ability to design and execute a contemporary, diverse menu.
- Solid kitchen management skills, including staff supervision, shift planning, workflow optimization, and coordination during busy service hours.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance, with a record of maintaining clean, organized, and well-audited kitchens.
- Experience with inventory management, vendor coordination, and basic food cost control to support sustainable, efficient operations.
- Ability to create visually appealing presentations that align with design-led hospitality and enhance guest experience.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with F&B;, events, and front-of-house teams in a community-oriented environment.
- Prior experience in boutique hotels, high-end cafes, or contemporary restaurants, preferably with exposure to international guests.
- Formal culinary training or certification in culinary arts or hospitality is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
