About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end operational functioning of our scrap trading and recycling business — from yard operations and logistics to vendor coordination and government e-auction/tender participation (MSTC, GeM, and other public procurement portals).

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Yard Management

- Oversee day-to-day scrap yard operations including material intake, sorting, weighment, storage, and dispatch
- Ensure optimal utilization of yard space, manpower, and equipment
- Implement and monitor SOPs for safety, quality control, and material handling

Procurement & E-Auction / Bidding

- Track and evaluate scrap/material tenders and e-auctions listed on MSTC, GeM, and other relevant portals
- Coordinate bid preparation, documentation, and submission within deadlines
- Liaise with the finance team for EMD (Earnest Money Deposit) and payment processing related to successful bids
- Maintain a tracker of ongoing, upcoming, and completed auctions/tenders

Logistics & Vendor Management

- Manage transportation and logistics for inbound and outbound material movement




- Negotiate and manage relationships with transporters, vendors, and scrap suppliers
- Ensure timely delivery and compliance with contractual terms

Compliance & Documentation

- Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements (GST, weighbridge certification, environmental clearances, etc.)
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, sales, and auction participation for audit purposes

Team & Process Management

- Supervise yard staff, drivers, and support teams
- Drive process improvements to reduce operational costs and improve turnaround time
- Prepare periodic MIS reports on operational performance, procurement status, and auction outcomes

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related field (MBA preferred)
- Prior experience with MSTC / GeM portal bidding or government e-procurement is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of scrap/metal trading operations and logistics
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic MIS reporting
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and team leadership skills
- Ability to work under tight auction/tender deadlines

Preferred Background

- Experience in scrap trading, metal recycling, steel/e-waste industry, or industrial procurement
- Familiarity with CPPP, IREPS, or state e-procurement portals is a plus
