OpenShift & Red Hat Certified Engineer
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced OpenShift and Red Hat Certified Engineer to join our infrastructure and platform engineering team. This role is critical for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing containerized workloads in enterprise environments. The successful candidate will bring robust expertise in Linux, virtualization, containerization, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies, with enterprise storage knowledge being a valuable asset.
Key Responsibilities:
OpenShift Platform Management
● Deploy, configure, and manage Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters in on-premise and hybrid environments
● Maintain cluster health, perform upgrades, and implement patches with minimal downtime
● Manage OpenShift operators, custom resources, and cluster-wide configurations
● Troubleshoot and resolve cluster-level issues including networking, storage, and compute problems
● Implement and enforce security policies, role-based access control (RBAC), and network policies
Containerization & Kubernetes
● Design and implement container architectures for microservices and enterprise applications
● Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker, Podman, and container registries
● Optimize pod resource requests, limits, and autoscaling policies for performance and cost efficiency
● Implement service discovery, load balancing, and ingress controllers
● Support developers in troubleshooting application deployment and runtime issues
Linux & System Administration
● Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems with expertise in performance tuning and hardening
● Manage system packages, repositories, and dependencies at scale
● Configure and manage networking, firewall rules, and SELinux policies
● Implement security best practices including certificate management and secrets handling
● Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring across infrastructure
Virtualization & Infrastructure
● Deploy and manage virtual machines using KVM, libvirt, or VMware environments
● Design hypervisor strategies and implement VM lifecycle management
● Integrate containerized workloads with underlying virtualization layers
● Manage compute, memory, and storage resource allocation Storage Management
● Provision and manage persistent storage solutions (PVs, PVCs, storage classes)
● Integrate enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, storage arrays) with Kubernetes clusters
● Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for containerized applications
● Manage data replication and high-availability storage configurations
● Optimize storage performance and cost in production environments
Monitoring, Logging & Observability
● Deploy and configure monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana) for infrastructure and applications
● Implement centralized logging and log aggregation (ELK, Splunk, or similar)
● Create alerts and dashboards for proactive issue detection
● Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
Automation & Infrastructure as Code
● Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm) for reproducible deployments
● Automate repetitive tasks and create operational runbooks
● Participate in CI/CD pipeline design and optimization
● Implement GitOps workflows for cluster and application management
Collaboration & Documentation
● Work with development teams to facilitate smooth application deployments
● Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures
● Share knowledge through training sessions and technical discussions
● Participate in on-call rotations and provide incident response support
Required Skills & Experience
Required:
● Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent Linux certification
● 5+ years of hands-on experience with Linux system administration
● 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies
● Proven experience deploying and managing OpenShift or Kubernetes clusters in production
● Strong understanding of container architectures, microservices, and cloud-native principles
● Experience with container runtimes (Docker, Podman) and container registries
● Proficiency with networking, DNS, firewall, and security concepts
● Solid knowledge of storage concepts, persistent volumes, and storage provisioning
● Experience with monitoring and logging platforms
● Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
● Strong communication and documentation abilities
Highly Desired:
● Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift
Administration
● Advanced experience with enterprise storage systems (NetApp, Pure Storage, Dell EMC,
HPE)
● Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
● Experience with GitOps platforms (ArgoCD, Flux)
● Knowledge of virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware, libvirt)
● Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
● Familiarity with multi-cluster management and federation
● Knowledge of security frameworks (CIS benchmarks, Pod Security Policies)
● Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in Kubernetes community
Certifications
● Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) – Required
● Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) – Required
● Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration – Highly Desired
● Red Hat Certified Architect – Preferred
● Kubernetes Certified Application Developer (CKAD) – Preferred
