About the role

You own the network that carries mine data. Underground drifts, open pits, haul roads and workshops, where the RF environment is hostile and the uptime expectation is absolute. Half the year you are in Gurgaon designing, staging and remote-supporting. The other half you are at a mine site with a spectrum analyser, commissioning mesh and proving coverage on a live haulage circuit.

What you will do

- Design and deploy 802.11ah HaLow and 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac mesh networks across open-pit and underground environments, including RF survey, link budget, antenna selection and coverage modelling.

- Stage, configure and burn in SymBot edge gateways and network hardware before shipment, and maintain the staging bench and golden configurations in Gurgaon.

- Commission Starlink and LTE/5G backhaul, configure failover, QoS and traffic shaping so telemetry, video and dispatch traffic each get what they need on a constrained link.

- Build and maintain routing, switching, VLAN, VPN and firewall configuration for site networks, including secure remote access for the SymX support team.

- Run site acceptance testing: throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss and roam performance measured on a moving haul truck, documented and handed to the customer.

- Diagnose faults remotely using SNMP, syslog, Grafana and packet capture, and drive them to root cause rather than a reboot.

- Work with customer IT and OT teams on network segmentation, IEC 62443 zone and conduit design, and change control on production networks.

- Write the runbooks, as-built drawings and IP schemas that let the next engineer support the site without calling you.

What we are looking for

- 4 to 9 years in network engineering, with at least 2 years on industrial, mining, oil and gas, ports or large outdoor wireless deployments.

- Deep hands-on wireless: RF propagation, antenna theory, spectrum analysis, mesh topologies, roaming and interference mitigation. Ekahau, TamoGraph or equivalent survey tooling.

- Strong routing and switching fundamentals. CCNA required in practice, CCNP or CWNA/CWNP a transparent advantage.

- Linux command line comfort, basic scripting in Python or Bash, and familiarity with MQTT, SNMP and REST APIs.

- Willingness to work at mine sites in India and overseas, including underground, with the medicals and site inductions that involves. Valid passport required.

- B.E. or B.Tech in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or equivalent.

Advantageous

- Prior work with 802.11ah HaLow, LoRaWAN or private LTE in an industrial setting.

- Exposure to fleet management systems such as Caterpillar MineStar, Modular DISPATCH, Wenco or Hexagon.

- OT cybersecurity exposure, IEC 62443 or NIST 800-82.
