Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly, dismantling and repair of industrial equipment and components.

2. Perform maintenance and repair of pumps, gearboxes, valves, conveyors, couplings, bearings, shafts and other mechanical equipment.

3. Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules.

4. Carry out alignment of shafts, couplings, motors, pumps and rotating equipment using appropriate tools and techniques.

5. Perform bearing replacement, seal replacement, lubrication and mechanical adjustments.

6. Undertake workshop activities including cutting, grinding, drilling, tapping, welding support and fabrication work as required.

7. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment drawings and assembly drawings.

8. Conduct inspection of tools, equipment and components and identify defects requiring repair or replacement.

9. Support shutdown and major maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion of assigned jobs.

10. Maintain proper housekeeping and follow 5S practices in the mechanical workshop and work areas.

11. Follow all applicable Safety, Permit-to-Work, LOTO, PPE and SOP requirements while executing jobs.

12. Report equipment abnormalities, unsafe conditions and maintenance requirements to the concerned supervisor.

Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, tackles, spare parts and workshop equipment.

14. Maintain job records and provide required inputs for maintenance documentation and MIS.

15. Support RCA, TPM, MTTR and MTBF improvement initiatives wherever applicable.

16. Coordinate with operations, electrical and instrumentation teams for smooth execution of maintenance activities.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of mechanical fitting and maintenance practices.

- Knowledge of rotating and static equipment.

- Ability to use vernier caliper, micrometer, dial gauge, torque wrench and other precision tools.

- Basic understanding of equipment alignment and mechanical clearances.

- Ability to read mechanical drawings.

- Valuable troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Strong safety awareness and discipline.

- Ability to work during shutdowns, breakdowns and rotational shifts.

Qualification & Experience

- Qualification: ITI Fitter / Mechanical Trade.

- Experience: 28 years in mechanical maintenance/workshop activities, preferably in zinc smelter, mining, metal, chemical, cement or other heavy industries.

- Experience in handling industrial mechanical equipment will be preferred.
