Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Mobile Application Developer at SoWhat.

The Mobile Application

Developer will design, build, and maintain mobile applications that deliver a personalized, high-signal news experience on iOS and Android. Day-to-day work includes implementing new features, optimizing performance and responsiveness, ensuring secure data handling, and integrating APIs that support persona-driven feeds and impact summaries. The role also involves collaborating with product and design teams to refine the user experience, troubleshooting issues, writing clean and testable code, and contributing to technical decisions and architecture.





The Mobile Application

Developer will participate in code reviews, continuous improvement efforts, and release planning to support a reliable and scalable app.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust skills in Mobile Application Development and experience building production-grade Mobile Applications.
- Candidates should possess solid Application Development skills, including end-to-end feature implementation and integration with backend services.
- Candidates should possess expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and maintain clean, modular, and testable codebases.
- Candidates should possess experience in iOS Development, preferably using Swift or Objective-C and relevant iOS frameworks.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and mobile app networking.
- Knowledge of mobile UI/UX best practices and accessibility standards.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, communicate clearly, and collaborate across time zones.
- Experience with Android or cross-platform frameworks (e.g., KMP/CMP) is a plus.
