Role &
Production Planning & Unit Management
- Take full charge of day-to-day production operations of the Centrifugal Castings Unit at Silvassa, ensuring output targets, delivery schedules, and quality requirements are met consistently.
- Plan and schedule centrifugal casting production allocating machine time, mould sets, and manpower across the product mix of tubes, coils, rolls, and other components.
- Ensure smooth coordination across all production stages: mould preparation, melting, spinning/pouring, heat treatment, rough machining, NDT, and final inspection.
- Maintain and analyse production KPIs output per machine, yield, rejection rate, on-time delivery, and heat efficiency — reporting regularly to management.
- Manage production costs: material consumption, energy usage, mould life, and scrap/rework rates.
Mould Preparation & Machine Operations
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of centrifugal casting moulds — metallic moulds, mould coatings (refractory wash application and drying), mould temperatures, and mould life management.
- Ensure centrifugal casting machines are set up correctly for each product — mould rotation speed (RPM), pouring rate, mould tilt (for horizontal/vertical machines), and cooling parameters.
- Maintain mould maintenance schedules, mould condition records, and mould replacement planning to minimise unplanned downtime.
- Oversee and optimise refractory wash formulation, application consistency, and drying procedures to achieve consistent bore surface quality and dimensional accuracy.
Methoding, Process Development & New Products
- Lead process development for new centrifugal casting products — determining machine parameters, mould specifications,
pouring sequences, and heat treatment cycles for new components and alloy grades.
- Conduct first article trials, process qualification runs, and pilot production for current products, documenting results and establishing series production process sheets.
- Optimise methoding for existing products — pouring sequences, RPM profiles, mould temperatures — to improve yield, reduce rejections, and improve bore and OD surface quality.
- Maintain a structured process parameter database for all active products, ensuring process sheets are current, controlled, and followed on the shop floor.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop the Centrifugal Castings Unit team — machine operators, pourers, mould preparation crew, fettlers, and inspection staff.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and on-the-job training to build technical competency and safety awareness across the team.
- Foster a culture of process discipline, quality ownership, and continuous improvement in the unit.
- Manage workforce deployment, shift planning, and contractor management to meet production requirements efficiently. responsibilities
Preferred candidate profile
- B.E. / B.Tech in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Production Engineering — or a Diploma with substantial centrifugal casting experience at a senior production level.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on production experience specifically in centrifugal casting operations — not general foundry experience.
- Deep, practical knowledge of centrifugal casting machine operation: horizontal spinning, vertical spinning, mould preparation, refractory wash application, rotation speed control, and pouring practice.
