Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Linux Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong expertise in vulnerability management, security assessment, cloud security, and remediation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining secure and reliable Linux environments, identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, and supporting security operations across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
The role requires hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment tools such as Tenable and/or Qualys, solid Linux administration skills, and the ability to work closely with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and maintain Linux servers across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and security scans using Tenable, Qualys, or similar tools.
- Analyze vulnerability findings, including CVE, CVSS scores, severity, exploitability, and business impact.
- Identify security risks and develop appropriate remediation and mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to remediate vulnerabilities within defined SLAs.
- Perform vulnerability validation and re-scanning after remediation to confirm closure.
- Support regular Linux patch management, security hardening, and configuration management activities.
- Troubleshoot Linux operating-system, networking, performance, and availability issues.
- Monitor system health, capacity, availability, and reliability and take proactive measures to prevent incidents.
- Support security risk assessments for infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments.
- Assess cloud security configurations across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Identify misconfigurations and security weaknesses in cloud resources and recommend remediation.
- Implement security best practices including least privilege, IAM controls, network security, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident remediation.
- Develop scripts and automation using Bash/Shell or other scripting languages to improve operational and security processes.
- Maintain vulnerability dashboards, remediation reports, compliance documentation, and security metrics.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of SRE, vulnerability management, and cloud security processes.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, preferably RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu.
- Experience in Site Reliability Engineering / Production Operations.
- Hands-on experience with Tenable and/or Qualys vulnerability management platforms.
- Strong understanding of Vulnerability Assessment, Vulnerability Management, and Remediation.
- Good understanding of CVE, CVSS, vulnerability prioritization, and security risk assessment.
- Experience with patch management and Linux security hardening.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or GCP security.
- Understanding of cloud security concepts such as IAM, security groups, network controls, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Bash/Shell scripting and automation.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Experience with incident management, RCA, and production support.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud security posture management and cloud vulnerability assessment.
- Knowledge of CIS Benchmarks and security configuration standards.
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Experience with SIEM, security monitoring, or endpoint security tools.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience with CI/CD and Dev SecOps practices.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP, RHCSA/RHCE, Security+, or cloud/security certifications.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 48 years of experience in Linux administration, SRE, infrastructure security, vulnerability management, or a related role.
- Proven experience working in enterprise production environments.
- Experience managing and remediating vulnerabilities across large-scale infrastructure is highly desirable.
