Job Summary
We are looking for a Junior Marine Engineer with 1-2 years of experience to support IRS/class documentation, technical records, inspections, and ground-level activities related to FRP boat construction.
The candidate will work closely with the production, and quality teams to ensure that required documents, checklists, inspection records, and compliance requirements are properly maintained and completed.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Prepare and maintain IRS/Class-related documentation for boat construction.
2. Maintain inspection checklists, test reports, installation records, drawings, certificates, and technical files.
3. Coordinate with the IRS surveyor/classification authority for inspections, submissions, observations, and required documentation.
4. Track and follow up on IRS comments, inspection observations, and corrective actions.
5. Maintain proper records for engine, machinery, fuel, steering, plumbing, electrical, and other marine systems.
6. Coordinate with production teams to collect required information and documents.
7. Support preparation of trial reports, inspection reports, commissioning records .
8. Verify that work carried out at the production/site level is in line with approved drawings and requirements.
9.
Support preparation of documentation related to ISO/IRS and other applicable marine standards, as required.
10. Carry out basic site/ground-level troubleshooting and coordinate with the concerned team for resolution.
11. Maintain organized physical and digital project files for each project.
Requirements :
1. B.E./B.Tech in Marine Engineering
2. 1- 2 years of experience in shipyard, boat building, marine engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
3. Good understanding of marine technical documentation and reporting.
4. Basic knowledge of IRS/Class requirements and marine regulations.
5. Ability to read basic engineering drawings and schematics.
6. Positive MS Excel, Word, and documentation skills.
7. Good communication and coordination skills.
8. Willingness to work on the shop floor/site and travel for inspections and trials.
Preferred Skills :
1. Previous exposure to IRS inspections or classification documentation.
2. Experience in FRP boat/ship construction.
3. Knowledge of marine machinery and systems.
4. Familiarity with ISO, and small-craft requirements.
5. Experience preparing inspection and testing documentation.
