Role & responsibilities
- Read, analyze, and understand functional and technical requirements and translate them into detailed Epicor technical designs.
- Work closely with Solution Architects and Functional Consultants to clarify requirements and determine the appropriate technical solution.
- Take ownership of the technical solution for assigned Epicor implementation, enhancement, upgrade, integration, and support projects.
- Design Epicor technical solutions using standard functionality wherever possible while minimizing unnecessary customization and long-term technical complexity.
- Design, develop, configure, test, and deploy Epicor customizations, extensions, integrations, reports, and other technical components.
- Develop solutions according to approved functional and technical specifications and ensure appropriate unit testing and version control.
- Design and develop integrations between Epicor and third-party systems using appropriate APIs, web services, middleware, and integration technologies.
- Design and support data migration activities, including extraction, transformation, import, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
- Review technical architecture and solution designs to ensure performance, scalability, security, maintainability, and alignment with Epicor best practices.
- Conduct technical feasibility assessments and provide accurate development estimates for project planning and proposals.
- Review the performance of technical developments and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Perform code and technical design reviews and recommend improvements before deployment.
- Establish and enforce development standards, coding practices, documentation requirements, testing standards, and source-control processes across the Epicor technical team.
- Ensure technical team members follow development processes, guidelines, and quality standards.
- Lead and coordinate Epicor developers and technical consultants toward agreed project milestones and deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers and support their technical development.
- Support Project Managers and Solution Architects by identifying technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and mitigation actions.
- Proactively communicate technical risks, delays, and issues before they impact project milestones.
- Troubleshoot complex Epicor application, customization, integration, database, reporting, and performance issues and provide appropriate fixes.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for technical defects and recurring production issues.
- Support system testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, cutover, Go-Live, and post-Go-Live stabilization activities.
- Work with customer IT teams and third-party vendors to coordinate integrations, environments, security, infrastructure, and deployment activities.
- Prepare technical specifications, solution designs, integration documentation, deployment instructions, and other required technical documentation.
- Prepare and deliver technical demonstrations, presentations, workshops, and training to internal teams and customers.
- Support pre-sales activities when technical expertise is required, including discovery sessions, technical assessments, solution design, integration discussions, effort estimation, and proposal preparation.
- Maintain knowledge of Epicor product developments, technical architecture, development tools, integration technologies, security standards, and industry best practices.
- Proactively participate in internal and external training, knowledge-sharing sessions, and Epicor technical communities.
- Identify risks and vulnerabilities within proposed or existing technical solutions and recommend appropriate improvements.
- Contribute to ' Epicor technical standards, reusable components, development frameworks, documentation, and implementation best practices.
- Take overall technical ownership when assigned as Technical Lead or Technical Solution Manager for Epicor projects.
Preferred candidate profile
- University degree or equivalent professional qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional ERP software development and technical implementation experience, with solid hands-on experience in Epicor ERP or comparable enterprise ERP platforms.
- Proven experience acting as a Technical Lead, Senior Developer, Technical Consultant, or equivalent role on ERP implementation projects.
- Strong understanding of Epicor ERP architecture, development framework, customization capabilities, integration methods, data structures, and technical administration.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting Epicor customizations and extensions.
- Strong experience with application integration technologies including REST APIs, web services, middleware, and third-party system integrations.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data structures, and enterprise application architecture.
- Experience with ERP data migration, data conversion, validation, and reconciliation.
- Experience with reporting, analytics, dashboards, and business intelligence technologies.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, source/version control, testing, deployment, and release-management practices.
- Experience working within Agile, multi-disciplinary, and distributed project teams.
- Strong understanding of security, performance, scalability, maintainability, and software quality principles.
- Relevant current Epicor product and professional certifications are highly desirable.
